I'm going to be installing an eclipse head unit and aftermarket door speakers with an amp. From my understanding I either need to buy a converter for $40 or just remove the entire system. Is this correct so far?

I'm not really good with reading wiring diagrams and I was just wondering if I should just run new wire from the amp to the speakers in the door or can I tap into the wires allready there?

If I need to run new wire into the door whats the best way to get it trough? If I can just tap wires that go directly to the door speakers were can I do this? Behind the radio?

maybe you should make a new topic for your question so it gets

some traffic.

Invest about $5 in a test light and you can figure out the constant 12V, switched 12V, lights, and ground. The speaker wires are easy or just run new speaker wires.

I would just run new wires and leave the original wires alone. and a test light is the best way to go.

Radio shack probably has a dozen of 'em. its like an awl, only the handle has a bulb inside w/ a wire lead and an alligator clip on the end.

Attach the test light to a ground, turn the ignition switch on, and poke the wires (gently) until the light in the handle turns on. That will tell you which wires have juice, just make sure they don't when the ignition is switched off.

you can attach the ground from the lamp to almost any bare metal surface on the chassis. Usually ground wires are black in color if you would rather go that route. At any rate the test light should come with written and illustrated instructions...

I have one of these, makes doing interior wiring a bit easier, it gives you a ground point or a 12V point by plugging it into your cig. lighter
