hehe... Still in the works... I'm in the process of molding my commander controls in the shifter panel...
first pic.. cut the hole and crazy glued the half commander in place for fitment http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/pfc_mod1.jpg second pic... used fiberglass resin to hold into place and bondo'd the top.. also some sanding... I still need to sand this a lot more to get it to look like it's a part of the console... http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/pfc_mold.jpg I should have more pics of the project soon... |
very nice
|
Lookin Goood
|
so good so far
|
Are you going to sand the entire console? It seems to have a texture on the surface, except where you've already sanded.
|
Where did the screen part of the commander go?
|
you are a maniac but in a good way https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
|
Cool idea. Only problem I see is the surface of the console will need to be sanded like the portion you are working on, unless you can recreate the original surface.
|
Ooh... looks nice... can you help out martin(fikserxseven) when he puts stuff in the center console... i don't trust him with his own car https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
|
thats hot, howd u get the a/c controls and stuff there?
|
I love it when someone just goe's nuts like Jay. Have you guys seen some of the **** he's done? His interior is BUTTERSWORTH. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
|
you could probably use that textured paint and it would come close to the factory stuff.
or just make it shiny and a different color or some **** |
Good looking work as usual Jay. More pics please? https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
|
Thanks guys.. i'm trying to finish up on this project... i'm almost there...
yes.. i know it still needs to be sanded from the above pics... but I thought I said that.. I'll post pics of the hacked power fc, console and where the display will be in a bit... lemme just finish sanding and painting.. hehe |
You're the man, Jay. That looks great!
|
Ok... here are some pics...
I can't take credit for the rewiring of the power fc... my friend did it for me... i was NOT goin to mess with that... LOL There are 20 solder points... the 2 boards where connected by soldered pins at each point... you have to unsolder all 20 at the same time and pull the boards apart.. unless you have a better way of doing it... here are some pics... http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/pfc_apart.jpg http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/pfc_apart1.jpg Here at the materials I used... including the Texture and satin black paint... http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/materials.jpg I'll post more pics of the panels in a couple of mins.. it's cold here, so it take time for things to dry... |
OK.. here are pics of the panel...
http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/panel.jpg http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/panel_back.jpg http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/panel_back1.jpg http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/panel2.jpg http://jayspec7.com/myrx7pics/pfcmold/buttons.jpg Next is the display... |
|
awesome job!
|
very nice indeed
|
that looks great jay....
did you finish it up for your carshow at jacob javits center? |
Jay, I didn't see that you fastened it anywhere on the back side.
If your only using instant glue and some bondo around the edges to flush it in. Aren't you worried about pushing the board through when using the buttons? And how close does the paint texture match the stock stuff? It looks good. Is yours '93 or '94 interior? |
Wow! That looks wicked...more pics when you've got it all installed. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Im thinking how some epoxy resin should be used instead of polyester, let alone super glue and bondo. I think he used some polyester resin "gelly", according to the pic of the materials he used. Polyesters dont hold up well when bonding plastics together, its only the interior panels, so it wont be too bad though. |
just a thought, why keep the same display type? if u could find an lcd of different color with same size/ pixels it would be nice... u can always change voltage levels going through the wires with resistors if needed...
i just think the green display sucks.. |
I agree that If i did mine. I would be using epoxy.
|
looks hot.

I didn't cover the back side yet, but will leave it for now since it is sealed and that it also heats up a little coz of the lights and resistors on the board.. I used crazy glue to put the plastic in place, used the fiberglass resin to permantely hold it in place then used bondo to smooth the top portion out... It's very stiff, so i'm not worried... that's what I used for the A/C relocation and I haven't had any problems since I'm always resting on it.. I have a 93.. but I painted most of the plastics w/ the textured paint, i'm just trying to finalize everything... I'm not sure if it would match the 94/95 plastics since I never really looked at the pieces.. But a lot of people at meets and shows swear my pieces look factory... |

i just think the green display sucks.. There is a post on the other forum about a mod to change the display to blue, not exactly like the AFC or AVC R... |
Here is where the display was mounted... I had to finish everything in time for the show... I only have pics from Urbanracer at this time.. I have to get the other pics off my camera... so sometime tonight...
Not the best pic of the display.. but you can kinda see it on top of the steering column.. http://www.urbanracer.com/gallery/ga...-4-03/0211.jpg Other pics from the show from Urbanracer.... http://www.urbanracer.com/gallery/ga...-4-03/0209.jpg http://www.urbanracer.com/gallery/ga...-4-03/0212.jpg |
