Gauge Pod Question
#1
I was wondering if it is possible to fit a 60mm gauge into a 52mm gauge pod. I've been told that all I'd have to do is grind down the rim of the gauge pod and that would work. I would like to know if that is the definitive answer, cause I don't want to ruin a perfectly fine gauge pod.

Can you explain how that works? I'm thinking that a gauge pod made for a 52mm gauge couldn't accomadate a larger 60mm gauge. Or is the 52mm measurement the measurement for the face of the gauge and not the actual gauge itself?

The whole gauge in genearal is bigger. The face sits on the out side of the pod but the body goes inside. You have to get a high speed dremel tool with the sander bit on the end. Sand the pod circle out a little bit at a time, until the gauge slides in nicley. make sure when you dremel you take off the same amount around the whole circle.

So what I'd be doing to make the gauge body fit is sanding down the inside to let the gauge easily slip in there? Or would I just be grinding down the rim of the gauge pod because that is the only reason that the gauge body would not be able to inserted into the pod?
Sorry for all the questions. I just like to have a clear understanding of what I am doing and why I'm doing it.

Yes its the lip that is too small. If you measure the diameter it will be 52mm. You want to enlarge it to incorporate the 60mm, so you have to open the hole up. Once done you should have a diameter of 60mm instead.

if you think about it, you're really just grinding 4 mm off the circumference of the circle. just hit it with a dremel tool wih the drum sander bit. Or, if you can get one small enough, a power drill with a drum sander would work too, maybe even better. just sand, and test fit over and over to get the proper clearance. One thing I noticed is that my 52mm gauges fit snugly in their pod, and I asssume you want the 60mm to feel snug too.
What pod is this?

Well, I was planning on getting a center speaker dual pod. I currently have just a 60mm boost guage, and I notice that most places only have them for 52mm. Are the center speaker pods different than other gauge pods, or will they be the same?

I have no personal experience, but from what I see in the pics it should be fine. I was just concerned that this may be a column mount gauge pod, in which case some pods would be damn near impossible to modify.
