Cf V. Fiberglass V. Aluminum Hoods
#1
i've see alot of cf hood that look like theyve cracked. whats the deal with that? is CF that brittle or does it take some force to break the stuff? The first time I lifted my aluminum hood i was like wow, this is light. Which hood is more rigid? Do CF and fiberglass hoods make a big weight difference?

Most CF hoods for FCs at least are only 5lbs or so lighter than the aluminum one.
CF, and just about any other composite for that matter will crack if hit at 90* to the fibre . Unless the hood is made with a foam sandwich the hood has most its strength in the horizonal directions. When hit at 90* from the direction te fibre is laid all that is providing strength is the resin.
