I want to get a new steering wheel, but I dont' have an excuse yet, what is the point of having a wheel with a smaller diameter than stock, lots of racing cars have them, but I wanna know why damnit, why!!!

race cars...

mostly for efficiency..

smaller diameter steering device allows for a decrease in turning radius...translating into easier and quicker maneuverability..which equates less fatigue..

and typically has less mass than factory wheel...

also provides for better instrument panel visibility...providing of course homework was done prior to purchase...

provides for easier cockpit acccess as well....formula cars have removables..with quick releases...

imo...unless the aftermarket provides for a reduction in diameter...the cost is not justifiable considering a loss in safety with omition of an airbag without supplement...like a harness ...

unjustifiable ...unless of course the purpose is completely aesthetics...

well, i have never had a car with air bags, so that isn't really a factor for me, so, comfort, and maybe a bit of maneuverability?

i find the 350mm ones perfect, it makes the steering a little quicker, i also find that the stock ones are a little to wide for my shoulders
