I'm in bad need of a 99 rx7 bumper reinforcement. Does anybody know where i can pick up a used one at. I'm installing the 99 jdm bumper cover and need the reinforcement. I know I can order on new from several suppliers from the US but starting price is around $400. I'm hoping to get one imported cheaper.



Is it possible to modify my 93 model reinforcement to fit. If so, does anybody have pics or info on what is needed?

never done it myself... but i've been told that you can successfuly modify the 93+ reinforcement to work for a 99 without much effort.

 

This is 100% true, it just involves some cutting of the old re-enforcement at the ends, and making the holes bigger for the signal lights. Save your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

 

Thanks for the info. I was hoping it was possible to modify mine. I've never been under the bumper skin yet. Any idea what the reinforcement is made of, steel, plasic, fiberglass??

Does anybody have pics of this modification in progress??? Just trying to see what I'm in for along with an idea of down time.

fiber glass or some sort of composite plastic.... mine looked like shreded cheese after the wreck.... ditched it after that.
