hey norotor

looks like we're in this together!! This saturday i'm going up to check out and probably put the downpayment on my 93 rx7!

That guide on rob robinette's site is by far the best article i found on buying a used rx7/rotary, and after reading it and memorizing it i feel safe going to check out the car.

Get a compression tester, and also a boost/vaccuum gauge just a cheap one for temporary purposes, to check for the 10-8-10 pattern (if you're getting an FD).

let me know how yours goes and ill let you know how mine goes, lol .

hope you see a good car, as i hope i do!

im only 18, but i found a cheap FD, lucky me

either way, we should right a book "the trials and tribulations of awaiting the saturday that we get to wet our pants looking at the hopefully soon-to-be-ours rotaries and then sitting there making sure it works correctly"

long title but we can work on it

anyway.....

Teknics I wouldn't worry to much about the boost patterns. As long as it is getting good compression and the car looks clean you can feesably fix the rest.

I would pay attention to see if it grinds when going into 3rd and 5th gears to see if the syncros are going bad.

I suppose you could use the boost issue as a bargining chip if there is a problem.

yea, bargaining chips = good in a way

my major bargaining chip is "you jumped a curb and repaired it"
