Yeah, drftk1d is right on the money (pardon the pun.) Grab a 20Gb for next to nothing and put all your files you wish to keep on it. Then reimage Windows (I presume you run windows).
You could even go so far as to install Ghost, create an image of your main drive and have that as a fall back if anything were to happen, such as the problems your encountering now.
Fishing with worms is unsporting, use simple lures.
