Ok so it all started yesterday, i woke up sick as hell, horrible things were happening in my stomach, i had been busting my *** at work and at home and it was my first day off, but alas i was sick as hell. Of course we had friends coming over to spend the night and the boat was a ******* disaster as I have had several ongoing projects creating perpetual disaster.

So after a couple hours of cleaning i decide to sit down and I pick up my laptop BAM I drop it right on the corner, huge dent and a busted a small piece of plastic, but the ****** won't boot, big surprise everytime I've ever dropped a drive or anything while it was running it's fucked. Try a wipe and restore but the drive is fucked, so I hit best buy in the morning after we see our visitors off and buy a new hard drive, seagate twice the size of my old one and a little faster it's a 7200 RPM instead of 5400. OK so I'm walking back along the dock and the bottom of my best buy bag falls out, the drive in the box bounces and goes in the water!!!!! It's floating though and I fish it out, luckily it was sealed inside a mylar bag (same kind we use to store our dry foods in to keep them dry) so it was ALL GOOD! INstalled the drive, used my time capsule that backs up every hour so i had a fresh backup, did the restore and the time capsule was well worth the investment. Only downside now is i have a small dent and my warranty is no longer good, but I believe that apple will give me my money back on the warranty so that will work out.

Actually from fishing around online i found parts to pretty much rebuild this thing, so it seems silly to have the warranty at all, but that's usually the way that **** goes.

You should coat your hands in a rubber adhesive!

Ibm has an automatic drop protection. A built in accelerometer turns the drive off if it registers anything over a certain point. Saves the drive. Plus the majority of the case is made from metal. Still weights under two pounds.

No, no. You don't get it. It's SUPPOSED to break. That's how they make money.
