I'm so ******* deep im going to scream, and everyday im walking the line just a little closer.
I have friends in debt, and they all take out lease's on new cars, it makes no sense. They owe for college, credit cards, and just other debt and they take the most expensive route in buying a car with the only excuse of "It's a NEW car! Nothing should go wrong! And if it does it's covered!"
I say BS! I have had 2 Acura Integra's (2nd Gen, 90-93) in the past 2-3 years and both have givin me less than $300 worth of trouble in engine parts with 20k miles driven on my current one and 60k on my old one (which is now my brother's car). Both are at/around 150k now too!
If you want to save money, get a car you can put on liability insurance only. Get a G2 Integra. My brother just hit a deer in his at 55mph and it has some hairline cracks in the bumper and a bent up liscence plate....that's IT!
You can get a very decent one (Decent mileage too) for $3k. Put it under liability insurance only, and if you get a 5spd like mine you can get 30-35mpg!
It's funny, I'm the one with $0 debt and I have the oldest car out of my group of friends. Even after I get the FD I'll still have the "older" stuff.
Just be smart about it bro, I'd rather live financially "free" than a nice car and chained down.
see im just the opposite, im the only one who doesnt have nice cars and **** and im not the only one in debt, its fucked up.
I'd just get the FD but no loan companies want anything to do with the car.

Then don't dig yourself deeper by buying an 8! Goodness!

exactly, i have been driving around my 94, 6 cyl, mustang since i was in hs, i have owned it for 5-6 years, that i worked my *** off for. i have had a total of $450 in problems.. i bought it with 80,000 miles on it, and i had the clutch replaced with a few small misc parts. my car now has 150,000 miles on it, and i still love it...
the only reason i am selling my car is because i will be commuting about 100 miles a day. and before i sell my car, i am going to pay off all my bills first which may take a few months... i will not buy a new car and take on a new payment, till i get the little things out of the way... also, i don' t know how well my car will hold up with the commute. getting an 8 would be impractical at this stage in life, and i want something with more than 30mpg.
but get this, i will be graduating college, getting a real job, and im still going to be driving around a 4 cyl. that costs about $15k (mazda3 or something similar). not because i won't be able to afford the 8, but because i don't want large amounts of debt hanging over my head, and i would rather take it easy for several years till i can afford the 8 as more of a weekend car. now in the years to come, i will get pay increases, move up in a company, and then buy what i can afford, but i won't buy things out of my budget.
a car is nice to have, but just remember that a car isn't everything, and if you have debt now, and you finance a $30,000 item on a salary of 11.50 an hour, you will be paying off your debt for years to come
the key is a budget... find out what you think is practical/impractical, and prioritize your life...
like phoenix said, i would rather live financially free than have a nice car and be chained down.
yea a car is nice but take right now for example. I'm looking for a ride to work and im not getting anywhere. I have 30 minutes to walk in that door and i have no way to get there.
