I've got about 4 to 5 major projects going on that all live on this one dedicated server right... i've moved these sites around through 3 or 4 different hosts trying to find a stable one, and finally the boss says..yea, go ahead, get us a dedicated server, the best there is blah blah...so we were doing great for the last few weeks, I took a few days off for vacation and a wedding...come back to work today, gearing up to finish some projects, bammo...down goes the remote desktop connection. So i dig around for a phone number to call these guys and see whats up...no phone number to be found, then luckily..one of the other guys here was dealing w/ the tech support while i was out and had a number I could reach them by...call up.. say "yea, i've lost my dedicated server connection..." guy responds bluntly "Yea, I know..." me - "well, can you tell me why..." ...him "we are experiencing a brief network problem" ...i've been in IT for a while now, and I know bullshit when I hear it... me - "can you tell me what type of problem...is it maybe soemthing I can help with"... the guy was just like "no, we lost our service provider, we should be back up in 10 minutes" LOL..such bullshit in the IT world! It has been almost 25minutes now..so I figured I'd slack around and share in my relaxation. I'm glad it went down, i'm not in the mood to work after being on vacation for 5 days!

I would think not, but apparently so,lol... my boss picks these things out (against my recommendations). They are owned by TUCOWS, Inc who's pretty well known and has affiliations w/ Macromedia. I was shocked to see them go down.

BTW, I personal am not in IT ...i've just worked it before hand. I'm a developer/programmer/consultant/marketing specialist ...take that for what its worth, lol.

Except that it's usually salary and pays ten times Mcdonald's, lol.

Don't get me wrong, I'd work on cars all day long if it paid the bills, but it doesn't.
