Haha, some poor kid goes over the speed limit a little bit, and suddenly he's gona create the nastiest wreck anyone has ever seen. I'm sure none of us have ever done twice or triple the speed limit before....

boost_creep 05-20-2004 02:30 AM

REALITY CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW LETS START TALKING AGAIN, STILL WANNA GET IN YOU CAR AND SPEED UNCONTROLLIBLY.

DON,T GET ME WRONG.......I OWN A RX7 AND AND FAST ONE TOO BUT THERE IS A TIME AND PLACE FOR EVERYTHING. AT 17 YOU DO NEED TO CHECK UP, YOU'RE NOT INVINCIBLE. THE PRICE YOU PAY MAY NOT BE WITH A TICKET.

Technically none of us are "invisible". But I fail to see how that nasty ass wreck, where it looks like some guy slammed underneath a truck doing some real speeds and then caught on fire, has anything to do with this kid doing 75mph in a 45 and 30mph in a so called 10mph curve.

Yes, you are under 17, you were doing some pretty stupid stuff, you own a sports car, you live in california. Thats enough for a judge to suspend your license for 1 year... easily. After that good luck getting any sort of deal on insurance and expect to pay $300 a month, easy. I'm sure you don't need a lecture on following and not following the traffic laws, but the fact that you brush it off like its nothing and then say "its the cops fault for keeping up" is ridiculous, and give responsible drivers like some of us on here bad names since we all own a sports car.

Accept the consequences, lose your license or pay through the nose. Either way I hope you learn your lesson.

Hate to sound like i'm defending the kid here...but are you reading the same thing he posted? Where does he make it sound like he is brushing this off like no big deal? He sounds desperate for help to me. He felt jipped on the 2nd ticket, maybe I would have too depending on the situation, we can't really tell for sure. He never said "its the cops fault for not keeping up" I just read through this stuff 3 times and never found that statement anywhere.

haha, my bad, it was someone else who said that. Ok he's not brushing it off like its not a big deal, that was my mistake.

I still stand by what I said though, I don't blame him for my high insurance rates or anything like that. I just believe that when you don't abide by the rules of the road (no matter how trivial and asinine they may be) you deserve to be punished. I accept that every time I speed down the freeway, and if you can't accept that, then don't do it.

Didn't mean to sound too harsh. If you can't afford a lawyer you can always get a public defender, the court has to supply you with one. I think the best route in NOT losing your license is stating your case, saying that you screwed up, you will pay, but if there's anyway you can keep your license you will. The california system is really screwy. I've had friends with 4 tickets (all speeding, thats enough to lose your license according ot DMV- but they keep on trucking) and then I've had friends with running a red light and illegal lane change have their licenses suspended, both over 18. Go for the court case and kiss ass. Good luck to you.
