Please answer if you KNOW what you are talking about.. I got a ticket for going 75 in a 45.. my first ticket ever. It says I cant go to traffic school and is a $463 ticket. I am goin to appeal for traffic school. 3 days later I got a ticket for "unsafe speed" took a turn at 3o that cop says should be at 10mph. This one was complete bullshit, 30 is perfectly fine for that turn. He said I would lose my license for the second ticket alone. Is he right? I am 17 and those are my only 2 tickets

FDRacing 05-19-2004 11:38 PM

you CAN

rx7rider87 05-19-2004 11:40 PM

But how good is the chance that I will?

rx7rider87 05-19-2004 11:48 PM

If it says "Unsafe speed" does that mean its reckless driving? Or does it have to say reckless driving on it?

FDRacing 05-19-2004 11:57 PM

go talk to the prosecutor and dont be defensive. If you go in trying to get out of it and your defending what you did you will get nowhere.

Admit your wrong, but the bullet and you should be ok. But its going to cost $$$

CGeek2k 05-19-2004 11:58 PM

In Colo, at 17, you only have 4 points. The 30 over I think is worth 6 points. Dont know about Cali though.

Good Luck https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

Don't talk to anyone. Hire an attorney that has a relationship with the ADA your case was assigned to and have them do the talking.

rx7rider87 05-20-2004 12:06 AM

What IF I cant afford a lawyer?

Then you shouldn't have been speeding.

Eric Happy Meal 05-20-2004 12:10 AM

the 20 over you should be able to go to traffic school for, but then just be extra careful not to get anoher ticket, cause if you get another one youll get your lisence suspended. and also, your insurance is also fucked.

boost_creep 05-20-2004 12:14 AM

Don't you have ticket laywers in Cali. They have them here in FLA and the cost is like 70.00 plus court cost if any.You probably need to check into that.

94touring 05-20-2004 12:28 AM

Hire a lawyer. Got me out of 3 careless and wreckless tickets with no points. Can't get any more though. Do the crime do the time...or pay the fee.

Midnightdriver 05-20-2004 01:11 AM

Yes a lawyer is well worth the money...I got nailed for 120 in a 50 lawyer got it to 60 in a 50 1 point...told judge that I wasn't part of the group that he guned that they were passing me..also nailed them with crap about the guns and some other stuff. they are worth the money even if it hurts your pocket at first. but in the long run will cost you much less.

I call it like I see it. And I'm gonna stand behind what I said for the simple reason that this kid's 17 and speeding his ass off. It doesn't matter how quickly you think you can take the curve, if the cop says 10mph, the you take it at 10mph.

**** admitting that what you did was wrong if when you get out of trouble the first thing you plan on doing is winding out 4th in a 45mph zone.

The first step isn't admittance or acceptance, it's telling yourself that you won't do it again. And he obviously has no remorse for what he's done, so I hope you get out of these tickets, do what you did again, crash the car and finally wake the **** up.

You're the reason why my insurence bills are through the roof, and why most 20 y/o's can't afford a sports car because insurence rates are sky rocketing.

Probably not work safe, very gruesome..

This link describes graphically what can happen to speedsters.

FDRacing 05-20-2004 02:27 AM

some of rotten.com is real, i used to date the one.

94touring 05-20-2004 02:28 AM

Haha, some poor kid goes over the speed limit a little bit, and suddenly he's gona create the nastiest wreck anyone has ever seen. I'm sure none of us have ever done twice or triple the speed limit before....

boost_creep 05-20-2004 02:30 AM

REALITY CHECK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

NOW LETS START TALKING AGAIN, STILL WANNA GET IN YOU CAR AND SPEED UNCONTROLLIBLY.

DON,T GET ME WRONG.......I OWN A RX7 AND AND FAST ONE TOO BUT THERE IS A TIME AND PLACE FOR EVERYTHING. AT 17 YOU DO NEED TO CHECK UP, YOU'RE NOT INVINCIBLE. THE PRICE YOU PAY MAY NOT BE WITH A TICKET.

94touring 05-20-2004 02:37 AM

Technically none of us are "invisible". But I fail to see how that nasty ass wreck, where it looks like some guy slammed underneath a truck doing some real speeds and then caught on fire, has anything to do with this kid doing 75mph in a 45 and 30mph in a so called 10mph curve.

Nan da yo! 05-20-2004 02:47 AM

Yes, you are under 17, you were doing some pretty stupid stuff, you own a sports car, you live in california. Thats enough for a judge to suspend your license for 1 year... easily. After that good luck getting any sort of deal on insurance and expect to pay $300 a month, easy. I'm sure you don't need a lecture on following and not following the traffic laws, but the fact that you brush it off like its nothing and then say "its the cops fault for keeping up" is ridiculous, and give responsible drivers like some of us on here bad names since we all own a sports car.

Accept the consequences, lose your license or pay through the nose. Either way I hope you learn your lesson.

Hate to sound like i'm defending the kid here...but are you reading the same thing he posted? Where does he make it sound like he is brushing this off like no big deal? He sounds desperate for help to me. He felt jipped on the 2nd ticket, maybe I would have too depending on the situation, we can't really tell for sure. He never said "its the cops fault for not keeping up" I just read through this stuff 3 times and never found that statement anywhere.

Nan da yo! 05-20-2004 03:19 AM

haha, my bad, it was someone else who said that. Ok he's not brushing it off like its not a big deal, that was my mistake.

I still stand by what I said though, I don't blame him for my high insurance rates or anything like that. I just believe that when you don't abide by the rules of the road (no matter how trivial and asinine they may be) you deserve to be punished. I accept that every time I speed down the freeway, and if you can't accept that, then don't do it.

Didn't mean to sound too harsh. If you can't afford a lawyer you can always get a public defender, the court has to supply you with one. I think the best route in NOT losing your license is stating your case, saying that you screwed up, you will pay, but if there's anyway you can keep your license you will. The california system is really screwy. I've had friends with 4 tickets (all speeding, thats enough to lose your license according ot DMV- but they keep on trucking) and then I've had friends with running a red light and illegal lane change have their licenses suspended, both over 18. Go for the court case and kiss ass. Good luck to you.

94touring 05-20-2004 03:32 AM

LOL, just checking. I kept reading through post and couldn't figure out what I was missing.

Which brings up another good point for the kid here. DON'T DO DRUGS!

Nan da yo! 05-20-2004 03:37 AM

lol, thanks for catching me on that one.

One more thing... eat your vegetables!

Srce 05-20-2004 04:02 AM

Do you guys remember the post someone made about the Audi that was split in half in Europe because it hit a tree while speeding? Now that **** made me decide not to ever use excessive speed on local roads and highways.

1gendreemer 05-20-2004 06:58 AM

I'm gonna go ahead and call BULLSHIT on all the people saying they don't speed. Srce and anyone else can flame me to your hearts content and get your panties all bunched, but there's no way in hell you get in your 7 every day and tool around at the posted limit. Give me a ****** break and stop the friggin hypocrisy.

I'm getting very tired of all the bitchiness and and fingerpointing on this forum...from lots of people. It's starting to be like...well you know what website. This poor kid is 17, scared that he's gonna lose his license, and looking for advice from a group of fellow enthusiasts. What ever happened to constructive criticism? Speaking of which, maybe being voted ******* of NoPistons should be a little red flag in your mind saying "Hey maybe I should stop being such and ******* on the forum". Tell the kid to get a lawyer and be smarter/safer the next time and go on about your business instead of giving him a rash of ****. Chances are this unpleasant experience is enough to slow him down. Hopefully this unpleasant experience on NoPistons, however, won't change his view of the site. Oh and your insurance rates are high because of years of statistics from thousands of people, including you and me...not this one kid. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...1047683517.gif

YukiRX7Aisha 05-20-2004 07:34 AM

Whoa whoa....1stgendreemer, can we relax a bit here?!

Kid, I feel for you, but I really don't know what you can do other than bite the bullet and take it...it's gonna cost you a lot now and a lot for awhile(insurance upcharges), but twice the speed limit is pretty high, I personally think the 10MPH at 30 is a joke, there are plenty of turns around my area that are rated for 25-->10MPH that cops take at the 40MPH speed limit.

I hope everything works out for you, man. But hey, they say you have to learn young or you never will, so I guess maybe this will work out for the best?

1gendreemer 05-20-2004 08:06 AM

Whoa whoa....1stgendreemer, can we relax a bit here?!

My sentiments exactly. That's the best idea I've heard in awhile! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png The rest of your post was exactly the type of thing that I'm talking about. Reproachful yet constructive and by no means inflammatory. I realize that I was being hypocritical flaming about flames, but I think it needed to be said and I'm done now...forever holding my peace. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

ColinRX7 05-20-2004 08:27 AM

I'm with 94T on this one. The kid went over the limit, but it's not a direct consequence. It's not like as soon as you are doing 56 in a 55 a bloodbath will ensue. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...>/rolleyes.gif

Wow all this pounding on the dude. lets see ...all the kills we post and then support each other . All the mod and go fast **** we have. And we ONLY run fast legally on the track>>>.BS.

By they way , how many have actually lost it cause of hot dogging , racing,weather...its all based on descisions. If your never dragged in the street then cast the stone. Believe me ,should you think your a driver at speed ,your an ass cause its the other guy who fucks it up, then your at fault cause you did it on public streets.(Example of the other guy...in car video on other post and thats on a track with bars in cars!)

When we were 17 we all did something like it. I plea that getting on it isnt done in heavy traffic, malls, schools zone (in front of the police).

Oh yea umm like the church preaches abstinence ......vs safe sex....keep it on the track?( But how real is that)

I am now getting of the soap box....oh and kid...you had to know what the penalties in money / liscence could've been cause some of your buds probably got hit before you this time. I lived in the Bay Area and you cant even play the music loud in the car there.

picking up trash on 610 for the next 20 saturdays will keep you from hot footing.

like said so many posts before EVERYONE on here is guilty of speeding at one point or another so those saying he deserves to wreck should check themselves because you too speed probably daily be it double the speed limit or 5 mph over speeding is speeding so yeah the kid fucked up and got caught hauling ass dont flame him because honestly does him losing his lisence mean that much to you personally?
