For group games, we've found the wii is a lot of fun, wii sports, etc....

I'd say this is a big factor. I've always been a console gamer, but I've never seen retirees buying a video game console until the wii.

I also like that it's a lot easier for kids to use, and most of the games are kid-friendly. It's a lot harder for my son to figure out what all the buttons do on the xbox controller, but for the wii it's a lot simpler.

I'd like to buy a wii, but they're damn near impossible to find. You have to find out when the shipment is at the store, and show up that morning. I can't believe they're still not flooding the market with them, since demand is so high.

Though it will never replace the joy of sitting down with a beer and COD4 on XBL late in the evening. Just hit prestige for the fourth time, pretty sure for the last time.

Baldy- my wife came home with this thing from Target by luck on July 4th morning.

Then I checked Craiglist and there were 2 guys selling complete Wii with all kinds of games- one for $325 had

2 controllers, classic controllers, charger, like 6 games, boxing gloves, all kinds of ****- I would have just bought that.

All this talk about video games makes me want to put together a 486 system, load DOS 5.0, and play DOOM! And maybe a little Duke Nukem 3D.

I doubt I'll buy a dedicated video game system until the kids are a little older. My 5 year old is getting pretty good with NFSU on the PC. The PC has been a good enough game system with the little bit of gaming I have time for. It amazes me that adults have two or three of the newer systems. That money should be going in your 401K people!

I realized along time ago that running out and buying these things was a huge waste of money.

I know some people find them entertaining, im just past all that.

Im somewhat pissed at my wife for buying it, but she has wanted it for a while.

I give it a 2 weeks and we forget that thing is in the house

look at the bright side, its not the worst $300 you've blown and it was prolly worth it just to not have to hear about it anymore

I am a retired console gamer.

SOCOM ruined consoles for me- they constantly bragged about the updates, which stopped within weeks of the game's release. Then they stopped updating the "server news" and it all went down hill. Tons of bug went unfixed, new maps were never released.

Now I ONLY play on PC- my PS2 is in the closet without any prospects of it coming back out. BF2, even though it has been out for retty much ever, still gets updated. NFS: Pro Street is impossible to cheat on online, and GRID is fun as hell. Sure, PS3 and 360 get better graphics, but I need a computer anyway, so I just built a gaming computer. I can play pretty much any game I want with full graphics, and it cost me a mere $800 including my 21" widescreen monitor and 5-channel sound.

im funny like that, we can go out and blow $300 on dinner one night and I think nothing of it, but damm if I dont get upset with

myself for wasting it on things that will just end up sitting around, lol

speaking of big televisions, does anyone know if Wii will play in full screen ?

I have not read the directions, but is there no HDMI cable option for this thing?
