I needed a car to get to my new job while I restored my fiero, and saw this red rx-7 in a used dealership lot. Bought the car for $2600, an 87 GXL w/73k miles or so... The guy told me it had leaky valve seals and would need them replaced to make it stop blowing a little smoke in the mornings... I didnt know anything about rotaries at the time and just bought the car, it was stick, looked cool, 2 seater, and I had not heard many bad things about mazdas. Later that day I started doing research online about the car I had just purchased and discovered the rotary engine, I became obsessed instantly. The car has 104k miles on it now, and the fiero is still in the garage in pieces, the13b on the engine stand being rebuilt https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png finally fixing that leaky valve seal.... riiight.
