I found out the hard way. I actually have an 88 P/S rack at home, but I can't get to it from here.

Red face

I seen people race RX7s around the nieborhood with Toyotas when I was growing up in JR high school..Growing up in a mostly Latin neiborhood..seeing Rotary race cars were normal..

Seeing the engine in old Datsun 510s...Old Toyota Corrolas..Mazda GLC..Toyota starlets and the list goes on...I always like the body of the first gen and the sound of a ported engine...

I didnt own one till about 21/2- 3yrs ago..I went all over to find one..they was expensive..or has been raced...I wanted one that was a Virgin...all stock stuff there...

This is where the story gets strange..Theres a salvation army place by my house..its like a good will where people donate ****...

Well I always say this grey RX7 sitting in this lot with a bunch of cars...Then one day coming home from work..I saw this sign it said AUTO AUCTION.. then the date...so I took like $1200. cash out of the bank and went down and registared...If you been to an auction they talk in ****** jibberish...and when you have a guy with a country accent do it.then it gets whacked..

Well I went and saw 2 RX7s on this list..the grey one wasnt listed...so I waited and waited..these cars were almost last..The black RX7 which is the 84 GS I bought..people kept messing with it to get it started..the sign said starts but dont run...So I watched them closly to see if someone was gonna **** it up..They came to the other one which was a 1979 RX7 I told this guy im gonan get this one..they started the bid at $75. I couldnt see if it had a engine and it had 2 flat tires..and a bad door...

Any ways I said its worth that in the glass..so the bid went down to 50 cause no one bid on it..then down to 25$ I went to bid..but this dam junk guy bid on it..so I had to bid 50 and I did $50. for a 1979 red RX7 with sun roof/black insides..

Waited some more time..then black RX7 came up...like 3 other peopel was bidding on it...iI bid and kept biding with these people...I told them I got $1000. to play with they didnt even over bid on my $175.00 what a joke..

I took both cars home...I got the 1979 RX running with the change on new plugs...and sold it 2 weeks later for $200. which I shouldnt done...

We was gonna make this a full drag car..

and the 84 took me about 2 weeks later..and about $175. In tune up parts to get it running..

A week after I got it running..a sales man at the dealership I was working at wanted to buy it ..for 2k cash..i turned it down..2 days after that I got in a wreck at the races...they guy gave me the body parts..and I put it on myself..and we just got around to paint it like 3 months ago..

The grey RX7 stayed on the lot..cause it had a bad title or something was wrong..I begged and begged to have them part it out to me..it was a dam GSLSE grey with marron inside...

Well This is one car I cannot get enuff of..I know the power you can get from a rotary..and I don t doubt them..and to me its cheaper to redo and get HP from it..than any other Asain import...

Plus I love being diffrent....No head..no valves..no pistons.. people think im lieing... :P

Love is a strong word, actually I got my first seven a 85 GS solely because I wanted a car I would have no desire at all to mess with, which is what I did, drive the car for nearly 3 years, and didnt put a dime into the car. Then I got offered my convertible and it was a deal I couldnt pass up, I wont even say what I paid for the car but thanks to the kid going into rehab, I got it, and this October will be 6 years I have it. Now I just want a TII or a TII conversion because I have taken my car as far as it will go looks wise, now it needs more power or im selling it and getting a TII.

looks, power, handling, true sports car, not some punk kid driving a cx hatcback with an exhaust, i love my car, its a 88 GXL with 79,000 miles on it, hardly anyone even knows theres no pisons in the thing: ) let alone the power of a rotary engine. plus its different ,way different.......hell theres nothing like it,nothing even close.........my mods to date....

1. removed ps/ac/air pump/ & big *** bracket it was all bolted too

2. gutted all 3 cats

3. dual alternator pulley

4. intake system

5. removed dead weight

6. ACV block off plate

7. 1500.00 bucks to spend and make her faster...........................

my serious goal with it is to give her 275 all motor hp,any donations gladly accepted, lmao, i want some sponsors to drag race, but im only 18 so i have plenty of time, imports need to fear the rotary

I can't really even answer a question like this...y do I love the Rx7? Simple put, it's unique and an obsession. I love 2nd gens the best though. No offense to 3rd gen guys, I love FDs...I think they look great and perform great too...but for what I could spend buyin an FD and fixing it up, I could buy an FC and be faster w/ less $$$. Will probably get an FD before too long though...what can I say..they are sexy cars...
