So the RX-7 in Japan is referred to as an Infini?

Sorry for all the questions. I had always thought that Infini was an after tuner. I am really confused now.

No, the FC is a Savannah Rx7. The infini is a model, like a turboII. Except its higher up, and more rare. It is tuned by mazdaspeed. Just think like this: Base, Sport, Luxury Coupe, GXL, TurboII, THEN Infini.

The Infini would be like the SVT Cobra, except its called the Infini, and tuned by mazdaspeed.

So, Mazdaspeed is to Mazda like SVT is to Ford.

Infini is the model name, like SVT Cobra.

Efini != Infini

Efini = dealer with exclusive rights to sell FD's

Infini = special versions of the cars, so your analogy is close as possible i guess. "infini is to mazda, as svt is to ford."

kevin.
Hold UP, There is an Infini RX7, it came out right before the FD came out and only a select few were sold like around 1000 or so. But Rx7 FCs are known as savanah too. When i get a kit from japan like a model car FC's come with Savanah stickers. So i associate Savanah with FC or FB not with FD. I see the enfini badgeon the FD's and i never questioned WHY??

But how do Japanese car companies pick a name like "SAVANAH", when it sounds so AMERICAN?? GEts me
