I've gotten a couple of text messages for the past couple of days but my phone service has absolutely nothing that tells me who sent it (unless it's a forward from AIM) so whoever's been checking up on me, I appreciate it. The hurricane really did a number on some other peoples' yards but no real damage occurred. We apparently had some funnel clouds threatening to spin-off but I don't know if any actually touched. The schools around here were out for 2 days (my college was out only one) because of losses of power elsewhere. What's got Alabama in a buzz now is the whole gas business. I don't exactly know what to think about that, whether it's another Y2K deal or if it's going to go all Mad Max. One thing I do know is that I need a huge supercharger, lots of spikes on my clothing and vehicles, a good, reliable gang, and possibly a gay lover to be killed by some kid with a metal boomerang. WHOEVER WANTS TO RALLY UNDER LORD HUMONGOUS CAN LIVE. WHOEVER DEFIES LORD HUMONGOUS DIES. (I'm pretty sure that's not a real quote from the movie, but I think I have the names right.)

But the details of how it all happened are as follows: I get home, wind starts to blow hard and harder. Rain comes with wind. Wind gets really strong, power begins to flip on and off. Eventually power goes completely down. I get a rainsuit on and walk with a friend to his house to play poker. After a while, power comes back and I play his stepdad's friend at Tetris. I go home. Power continues to blip on and off throughout the night, laptop saves me from boredom with NES roms. Next morning we're all fine, leaves and limbs are in everybody's yard except ours. I go to classes.

Man, they seem to be getting power back there soon, that's awesome, that was our biggest inconvenience, two weeks without power in the heat sucks.

Yeah, the next day when I was out driving there were Alabama Power trucks going everywhere. That's one thing that's good about this state, power doesn't get to stay out long.

Just thought I'd add this in here. It was e-mailed to me by a coworker (sort of, she works in Panama City). I can't believe that's an interstate.

this is taken on I-59 just north of Hattiesburg by a friend of ours - just civilians clearing the interstate.

They were following some tractors who were clearing debris, so they felt they'd get in.

I wish I were able to get out and help, but the best I can offer is some shelter should someone feel the need to come all the hell the way out here.

It appears that FEMA is finally being exposed for the useless ******* sinkhole of us tax money that they are. Not only that but some reports are indicating they are being a hinderence to citizens trying to help those in need.

**** YOU FEMA!

It's time to stop ******* around in New Orleans. People are shooting at hospitals, doctors, aid convoys.. What the **** is going on? Send the military in! Order looters and criminals to be SHOT AND KILLED IN SIGHT! No warnings! Anyone who takes advantage of this desperate situation deserves, and is asking to be one of the bodies that litter the streets!

Jebus christ, people! What is this? Some kind of third world country?? Wholly unbelievable...

It's a discgrace and part of the reason people are shooting at aid helicopters is desparation, they need to declare martial law. People are dieing of dehydration all over because we aren't dropping any supplies. We were quicker to donate 17 billion to the Tsunami relief then we have been to save our own people, bodies are piling up because we aren't getting supplies, independant parties have tried to get supplies in and been stopped and I don't know how many times I have heard the news point out that the people trapped are quote "the poorest of the poor" what in the **** does that mean? They're broke so **** em?

The only good that may come from this is proof that FEMA is inept and the biggest joke around, we'd be better off giving that money to the red cross. They spend money on ****, millions and yet no one is being helped, they were (FEMA) bragging on the news up until today about how prepared they were BULLSHIT.

Where's the military? Why isn't the sky filled with choppers, if someone shoots SHOOT BACK. It's easy to criticize I'll admit, but when nothing is being done it's even easier to do so.

They are actually telling people that haven't eaten or drank water in two days to "march", they dropped people off on freeway overpasses surrounded by water with no supplies, they are dieing, one lady's husband died on the overpass and the cop told her to drag him out of the crowd cause he would start to stink!

I completely agree with the need for military support. Get Grey back out there to **** up peoples' days who mess around. Looters and polluters, are not the way, hear what Captain Planet, has to say! Seriously though, people who **** around right after a disaster and attempt to hurt others out of desperation need to be put in their place. I go beyond what you say Phins about shooting, shoot first before they can.
