Wuts the deal, i am a bit confused, i have read a lot of info online, but it seems to be loaded with bias and full of very little info.

The disadvantages I guess are obvious or rather the potential disadvantages, but we let foreign entities run all kinds of businesses here does operating a port really any greater risk?

Because some country happened to have terrorists within their borders at one time doesnt mean ****. There are terrorists probbably inside US borders, I was recently in Emirates and its 20+ years ahead of the USA in everything.................especially manners. And that United Arab Emirates government doesnt support terrorism or Al Qaeda, they have check points all over near the borders and they check out everyones backgrounds. They crack down on bullshit fundamentalists more then we do.

It has everything to do with your average American thinking that Arabs are out to get them, you ask 10 people on the street, 7-8 are going to tell you that all Muslims are out to kill Americans which is absolute bullshit, I walked, WALKED the Arabian peninsula less then 6 months ago with just a backpack and I am white, computer nerd six foot pale and my life was never in danger, and nobody was as dangerous as your everyday American, it has a lot to do with a lot of mis informed people in America and in the American government, it was like that Senator from I think Colorado who said, "If terrorists threaten violence against america, then we should respond with nuclear attacks on Mecca" thats the sort of intelligent response that runs the United States congress. Being that less then 2% of Arabs are terrorists, and the other 98% just want to go about their lives.

while i agree with your logic,

It only takes one bad apple to ruin the bunch.

Yeah, perhaps it's only 2 percent, but a small group of people can make a huge difference in the world today (ie the point of terrorism)

I think the 45 day postponement was the best way to handle the situation...

Percentage of Muslims that are terrorists aside, I think its very bad form for a lame-duck president to ignore the wishes of the people and stubbornly force this down the throats of Americans. A little common sense would tell you that there's going to be some emotionally charged opposition to allowing a foreign entity so closely associated with the 9-11 terror attacks to run our ports. Most of all, I want to know why? Why do it? Who's getting the big kickback?

Yeah, you never win. But I am pretty sure as 1988RedT2 said, people are getting really pissed off because its an Arab country, people are still post 911 scared of the idea, the president hasnt helped because he is constantly revamping the idea of COUNTER-TERRORISM so it keeps everything still fresh in the media, while he tries to pass the ports off to an Arab country.

Having GWB as president makes me wonder if votes are actually counted in America..
