Thanks for the input about the shocks.
The thing is, the ride quality was almost perfect before my transmission blew. After I got it back, it was crap. There was no degredation over time, it was just fine, then not fine.
Yeah, I understand the deal about the torsion bars being cranked to different spring rates, but I think this has little bearing on my current situation.
The truck is a '92 Olds Bravada - basically a 4x4 S10 Blazer, for those who didn't know.

It wouldn't be the first time a shop messed something up that was totally unrelated to the service that was agreed upon.

Wellllll.... Finished the torsion bar mounts, pulled the front shocks.. The FR was ok.. kinda.. the FL was blown to smithereens.. Had a big gap of air in the gas charge, almost three inches of loose play! I exchanged them under warranty and upgraded to the $40 shocks. Took 'er back on the road, works like a charm! Needs an alignment BAD, but I think she'll be good to hook!
Fuckyeah, it's nice not to have to drive the goddamn Saturn (my sister's old car). The rear passenger window falls down on its own about every 6 miles. Haha!

OKey dokey.. now the only remaining symptoms are wandering which is only slightly annoying and most likely attributed to worn lower ball joints, as recommended by the alignment shop, and a poor return-to-center of the wheel.
The alignment was done very well. 80% of the time the wheel is straight and the truck tracks straight. 20% of the time it's cocked to one side or the other and feels happy (straight) in that spot.
There's like, no return to center.. well, barely any. I have to actually straighten the front wheels manually. I'm still leaning toward steering gear here. Thoughts?

It's a GM product. Under the best of circumstances, they all do that!
