[quote name='inanimate_object' date='Jun 2 2005, 12:12 PM']What kind of training do you do? I have to say that deep diving is something I've always wanted to try.

That's a tough question. Off season I maintain a 5 day a week 1.5 hour gym routine.
about 5 months before the even I start a 3 cycle training period.
1st Cycle i do cardio for about 6-8 weeks with weight training. So basically building a good baseline...Trying to bulk up and have a good aerobic capacity...Usually including 45-90 minutes on the stair master or eliptical stepper each day and then a weight routine that lasts about 1.5 hour.
2nd Cycle lasts for about 4-6 weeks where I back off the weights and cardio and start doing about 60% of what I was doing in the gym and then move to the pool and do 3 days gym and 3 days pool. Pool session I usually end up covering approximately 4 miles a day. Includes crazy **** like this
20 x 75m under water no fins...or 10 x hold breath for 3 minutes then swim under water 50m no fins...And the variations get really weird.
3rd Cycle...about 6 weeks is mostly pool sessions with an early morning light gym routine...Total training time 5-6 hours...Then at the end of that travel to the location of the dive and start doing practice dives to work on technique and get used to the depth and equalizing the ears....when everthing starts to feel natural again...BOOM a big deep dive to 82m/268ft...That's the next goal depth

The last portion of the article when it said "when friends ask why do I do this", I was expecting to read..."because of my rx7".
