i'll post my story and you post yours...



in may of 2003 i went to Iraq and had someone start building an engine and car for me. i sent most of what i earned to him and he garaunteed me the world. $20,000 later i was hoping for a beast. when i returned i found my 87 TII still in storage. i call this guy, and he's a little behind but going to put my 13B-RE in an 89 for me and we'll trade bodies when he's finished. that was 2004.... i made 2 trips to his place by that time.



soon i threatened to sue him...still nothing. in late 2006, i was deploying again and he said things would be done by the time i get back. i return in march of this year and he's not done. i rent a trailor and go out there with my 87 to drop it off and get all my stuff to go with the 89. when i get it home i start to discover how much of the car (the 89) is missing. he still has the motor (sposed to send it to a real builder).



this past monday i rented another trailor and started driving again. 3000 miles and $1000 in gas.... i drive and drive...i get my 87 back and i get my 13B-RE, my turbo, all my stuff.... he boxed it up for me. come to find out one of the rotors is messed up. i'm missing an oil pan, front cover, water pump, the intake piping that comes on the RE, the crank angle sensor, lots of ****!



I"VE BEEN HAD!! you know what though? **** it!



i'm going to Iraq for the 2nd time and i'll probably just buy a new 13B-RE motor to use as a parts mule. i might as well buy a new car....



anyone else been screwed like this before? anyone want to know who it is that did this to me? if you do just PM me and i'll be more than happy to make sure that he doesn't get anyone else.

I invested 30K in a shop. They had built a turbo kit for me and I liked it... they were opening a new place and I decided to get in. I just 'invested', didn't take part in the operations. Well, they told me they were going to start marketing the kit they built me. Sweet I thought, so I advertised. Few customers get the kit and start letting me hear about all that is fucked up. Guys that I invested in decided to buy bulk **** off ebay and hack together shitty kits that in turn, I ended up spending MORE money on trying to fix...



After it was all said and done the shop closed, guys disappeared, and I was out a ton of money.



I feel ya man.

A few years ago my father found a Mustang in Europe he wanted to buy. I really don't want to go into details but we sent money to my mom to a bank near where the car was as proof we were going to pay so he would send the car. Apparently "Kelli" was in Europe and came in the bank the same day and picked up "her" money. The bank tried to blame us for it but eventually they gave us back our money as it really was their fault someone with a fake ID walked out with that cash.



Since then I have had at least 5 people try to scam me. I guess it is easier to tell when you are wanting to buy a car that doesnt exist. I cant imagine what I would do if a mechanic effed up my car like that.

If I were you I would go after that dude legally. I am not a "sue happy" person but if someone knowingly effs you over than they deserve it, and you deserve your money back. Where are you located? If you would like some help with your car I would really recommend Speed machine in So Cal. They have always been straight forward and honest when fixing my car. They also do it in a timely fashion.

I really don't know what to say to that. I believe what goes around comes around. They will get theirs one day.

 

The shop you are speaking of is in St.Louis I believe. Right up the road from me, and yeah, they fucked alot of people over. I was there when Dave was going through all the bullshit with the turbo kit.

 

9BASE3- I always thought it was a poor idea to invest 30k in a shop with no real estate investment, they were operating a shitty business and had no where else to turn to for money.



I say post the name of the person, I know there are 3 sides to every story but you cant be ALL wrong, you

would not be threatning or bashing, just warning others.

 

Worst thing thats ever really happened to me was buying a used jspec motor and turbo for $1500, which were both toasted.

We get customers all the time that have been screwed, doesn't matter what kind of car, happens to everyone.

Hey Guys sorry its been a minute. been over at the rx7club forum...found out some new info the the guys that has my **** now...my brand new rotor housings are FUBAR! "someone" ported the housing....not just the exhaust sleaves but the housings too and EFFED it up. so i have to get a new motor now..

i hope he reads this too....cause what goes around comes around John. you have all the time in the world to tell your side cause i'm out in a couple days to Iraq. i'll be back in a year and some change to get a rebutle but by then it won't matter. so have at it.

 

It was outside STL, yes. I'm the one who sold Dave his kit. THINKING I was selling him the same thing they built me. I even posted pics and everything... they shipped him a kit with a knockoff HKS wastegate with a condom for a diaphram, a downpipe with a dumptube that didn't clear, and god knows what else. Martin (FIKSE) had the same problems... or worse. Every time I gave those guys money (Davinci motorworks - not to be confused with the reputable shop that builds carbs & ****) they would use it for something it wasn't intended for. I don't even know what. I even put a set of 19" rims at the shop to sell cause I needed money. Well, sold them they did. And then tried to tell me someone 'else' sold them. It was complete bullshit. One day I showed up and the place was empty. Haven't seen them since.



You should see the mess that was left behind... there was a FD there awaiting a built and twin turbo 460, chrome paint job... you name it. Guy had sent them like 20K cash... I don't think one part was ever bought for that car. There was a thread on the club about it when they started the build... not sure where it went but I know the car never got done. Hell - the owner of the rx7club had his car there... I'm not sure what ever happened with that either.



There was one other guy who invested too that got screwed... but he ended up starting his own place and is now doing well. Thank god!



I'd have to dig up their names... Ron and Mark. Wasn't really that close with them. Of course, I still probably don't know the whole story. What I do know is I'm out a **** ton of money, and a few GOOD FELLAS here got fucked over too because of it.
