According to my atlas, it runs from Houlton, Maine to Miami, Florida.
I've been on it in Maine, and it's pretty much a cowpath. Actually, the road crosses the border into New Brunswick, Canada, and it's still called 95, but it appears to end a short distance later. I personally have driven it from Augusta, Maine to just south of Jacksonville, Florida. It's not my favorite stretch of highway. In fact, most of it sucks because it's a very busy road. I'd rather be on I-40 around Albuquerque. My atlas is pretty old. The Florida guys probably know if it goes south of Miami. |
It ends in (Downtown Miami) next to Coconut Grove, then turns into US1 going south.

Tidbit of useless information:
All interstates get their number by a percentage of how much of America is north/south or east/west of them. I-95 has 95% of the US to its west, and only 5% on its right. Also, I think state highways Run East/West if its an Even number, North/South if odd...I forget. |

Naming of the highways [edit] Primary routes The numbering scheme for the Interstate highway system is administered by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO). Within the continental United States, Primary Interstate highways (or main line interstates) are given one- or two-digit route numbers. Within this category, even-numbered highways go generally east-west, and odd-numbered highways go generally north-south. So my uncertain guess about the directionals were true but no word yet on confirmation of 95 meaning 95% of the continent is to the left.
Could mean continent and not USA or something... |
