What's With You Guys And Speeding Tickets?

comon, if you're speeding, you're breaking the law. If you get caught, you face consequences that could easily have been prevented. So why is everyone so stuck on fighting every damn charge and ticket? I mean, most cops aren't out to get someone, they're just doing their job. They set speed limits for a reason. So why try to find loopholes to "fight the system," and try to duck out of a punishment that you very well earned? Kinda cowardly, if you ask me.
This doesn't apply to people who do indeed get screwed over by bad cops, but those are the minority.

I fight tickets because the one's I've been handed were unreasonably issued.. 68 in a 45 was the worst, at 3:00AM, I was totally sober, driving on an EMPTY (for miles) 4 lane divided highway, where there is nearly zero risk of animal encounters, and no homes or businesses nearby. It was a speed trap, plain and simple. If I get caught being dangerous, then by all means i'll pay the fine. If I get 'caught' going fast in the middle of the night when conditions are safe to do so, that's unreasonable. I don't employ city officials and police to keep me from getting home at a better time, especially when there is little or no increase of danger to myself or others. There's a difference, and Baldy, it seems you assume that 'fast' is always 'dangerous'. When in actuality, fast can be just as safe (minus the speed factor) as slower.

Your 68 in a 45 is completely justified. You were breaking the speed limit by 13 miles per hour. Your arguement is that if you are doing something dangerous you should be fined, but fact of the matter is you were breaking the law.
There are many things that aren't dangerous, but are against the law, and for that simple reason, you just don't do them.

I never said fast is always dangerous, but breaking the law is breaking the law. No matter how minor, you realize that there is a limit, and that limit is not flexible in the eyes of the law. Yeah, a cop might let someone go, but they have every right to write a ticket for speeding, because the bottom line is, it's the law.
I drive my motorcycle over the speed limit, knowing fully that I can stop faster and swerve more nimbly than the most other vehicles on the road. So I consider it to be a safe speed for me. But I realize that I am breaking the law, and if caught, I will take responsibility for my actions.
