I also agree on Adire audio. Their drivers are supposed to be top of the line. Im thinking about getting a 12" Shiva. They supposedly bump pretty hard, and have a decent price.

here is my preference list...

Adire

JL

Kicker

on the flip side of this.. I don;t think you have to really spend much on a sub... you just have to design the box right and give it good power..

I had a box ported with two twelves.. I built it to specs.. and stuck some RF punch subs in it.. They were on special.. 2 for $80.. then I ran them with my Zapco Z100c2.. Man.. those subs rocked like hell.. Went to a reputable sound shop in LA once to get some wire,. the guy could not beleive it.. He was all complementing me on the system.. Take yer time with the system.. it is worth it in the end..

I just built a box for my brother's Tempest (a 15" version of the Shiva) and it POUNDS with only 300 watts.

75 REPU is exactly right...it's all about the enclosure.

Well I have been in to car audio since the mid 80s--yes I am that old.I have seen and heard it all almost. One thing its not 100% of the sub its the enclosure and also the placement of the sub. There are tons and tons of subs out that actualy say **** that they really cant do--audiobahn is one--they put more into the cosmetics than the actual quality.PPI--in the late 80s and 90s were a great amp--But after there problems there not at all the same quality---thats why alma gates left them.

When JL AUDIO came on to the seen they blew everyone away with there sq subs and to this day they are doing the same thing. They are the Pioneers of true sq subs. Now with there w7 line they are being copied again by Kenwood, alpine, pioneer and list goes on and on.There subs are so underrated its crazy.I will never buy another sub.Every contest -sp or sq they always bring it home--they are that damn good.

The W7s are good, but they are not priced competitively at all. You can do a lot better for the money.
