Found a car:

1993 VR Rx7 Touring (Sunroof, Bose, etc)

Aftermarket exhaust

103k miles on Chasis.

Broken door handle.

1 mentionable dent.

5th gear synchro problem (Does this mean 1,3 might go out soon too?)

No engine. Everything else is there and in pretty good condition.

He's got offers of $7.5k. Sound good?

I might grab it, the car is being sold as a rolling chasis (duh) and is literally 5 minutes from my house (how kickass is that?!)

Is $5k enough toward an engine/install? $7+$5=$12k to get up and running?

That's what I was wondering...

I'll find out when I visit it tomorrow or over the weekend. See what exactly is missing....

I just don't want to have to sell this thing after realising how much I'd have to spend....

I think you should bargin the car down. Unless it is absolutely clean car, with perfect interior, perfect body and all.

To get a car that doesn't run running is a lot of work. It isn't as simple as dropping an engine, tightening bolts down and turning the key. Sometimes when you turn the key nothing happens. That is when you are in for a world of hurt. It could be as simple as a missing wire to having to change out starters, or trouble shoot some weird item that wouldn't normally come to mind.

No way I'd pay that much. I've seen lots of FD's with the motor blown, but present, go for less than that.
