Yeah, methanol fires are insane. Has anyone ever run a rotary on methanol? Castrol build a Honda B18C5 to run on methanol and 43 pounds of boost and it pushed over 1000 hp at the wheels of their drag car.

I work on a ship and we get 18,000 gal. of diesel fuel delivered by tanker truck every week. The fuel comes from the Arco refinery. As the fuel has a lot of impurities in it we have many filters and a centrifuge to remove them before they go to the engines.(It can really mess up injectors!) Because of the amount of impurities(what comes out of the centrifuge sometimes looks like you mixed diesel and dirt from the ground!), I asked the fuel truck driver about Arco gasoline.
He said that as per state laws, he can only carry a set number of pounds of fuel each trip. He stated that when he carries Arco gas to gas stations, he has to carry a few hundred gal. less as Arco gas has more impurities(crap) in it and weighs more per pound because of it. I have since stopped using Arco gas because I see first hand everyday all of the crap in it. I use Texaco or Chevron. (he also said that Chevron adds techrolene as the ads say, and they are very particular about making sure each load of gas gets it.)

Well luckily here in Australia we dont ave such problems, just 95 and 98 octane to choose from, my 7 isnt going yet, but which octane would run better in a 86 N/A GXL??
All my pistons buddies get improved power and economy with the 98 <_<

Yes, methanol is consumed at a rather frightening rate as compared to gasoline. In my experience it about doubles the rate of consumption give or take.
The other nastyness about it is the stuff will eat your fuel system alive if you're not careful. Gasoline lubricates the parts as it flows through whereas methanol has no lubricating ability.
I don't know anything about setting up an injection system to deal with it. I'd hazerd a guess that it would take some work. I seem to recall Hillborn selling some kit to do the conversion on boingers.
It does tend to run cooler if you tune it right. It's also not quite as picky about mixture as far as the powerband goes.
Oh yeah, if you live in a humid area......you need REALLY air tight containers. The stuff sucks up water
