https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/ohmy.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png Rotaries will always be an impractical powerplant. Why do U see people converting their rotaries with a V8. Also why are virtually all cars are piston. In truth, the rotary has sealing, heating, and emissions issues. Bananna shaped combustion chambers R inefficient comparied 2 pistons. Harder to rebuild a rotary compared 2 pistons. In pistons most components are round such as valves, bore, & pistons. That means they are easy to machine and rebuild. If rotary components are damaged, it is trash. The alternating aluminum & iron housings causes corrosion....The fuel consumption is like a V8 but the power output is no better than a 4 cylinder. Just compare with S2000 or Impreza STi turbo if it is turbo. You'll see the rotary neither gets more horsepower, revs higher, or is more fuel efficient. It is silly when people say "it's more reliable and efficient because of fewer moving parts"......this is what some guy thought of his 2nd gen se https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/angry.png

I have one argument for that guy.

Can you fit your penis into the exhaust opening of a piston engined car?

Didn't think so.

Ignorance is Bliss.

Not even worth picking apart.

Still too cool to use the letter "E" eh *thefox* (Note: Som guy)

Exactly. Perfect example.

I used to try to explain it but meh whatever. I just let people live in their own state of mind now. Not worth my time.

Perhaps it is worth it for Foxy-Brown here to explain it to the guy....

But a 3-4 page response pointing out what he said wrong when all of us simply "know better" is just sillyness I tell ya...sillyness...

Haha yeah. Well I work in a diesel shop with mechanics who are in their late 40s, so I always get the "what are you doing wasting your time with them wankel engines" line. I don't even try to explain it I just joke about it with them. They know I love them though.

Let's see...rotaries do get **** for milage, they do blow up a lot (don't give me that tuning bullshit, either...because it still happens), they do put out a lot of emmissions (unless it's a Renesis)...so what was he wrong about? Oh, V8s aren't easier to rebuild.

Now's where you ask me why I drive RX-7s if I don't like rotaries, and I tell you it's because I'm not one of the idiots blowing up my engine, I got better mileage out of my TII than any N/A I know, and I don't care a whole lot about emissions...sorry Mother Earth.

V-8's are not easier to rebuild. Takes 3 hours or so to rebuild a rotary while shooting the **** if you have all the parts and know what you are doing.

Why would it take any longer? The simplest 4 cylinder engine has 40 moving parts while a wankle has 3. So wich would take longer to put together? HMMM...

80 seperate pieces that move vs. 3.

HMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

my thoughts exactly....also getting as much power as a v-8 if not more https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif
