i want something that is fast, turboed or can easily be turboed, and it needs to be reliable and fuel ifficient.

i was thinking about a 240sx and doing a sr20 swap. do you think i can get some of the money out of it.

Dramon_Killer 09-17-2003 09:49 PM

That's still kinda pricey.

twinturbodork 09-17-2003 10:00 PM

i could get a old 240sx (90) for like 1500 then get the sr20 swap for like 2500.

Get a RX-7 Turbo II, don't really know how good they are on gas after you mod them, but they can be made very fast for not too much money.

Why can't you get a loan for a FD?

Banks only lend back to certain model year cars.

But...

Credit Unions usually have more lax rules as to how old and sometimes if its a rare sports car they will loan on it. My old credit union had a list of older collector cars it would give loans on. I almost financed a 68 Porsche once.

twinturbodork 09-17-2003 11:00 PM

they didnt even check the model or year or anything.

i am gettign a 2nd job and will increase my monthy income about 200 (1000/mo. or so). do you think that will make a diff.

i was also thinking about a 94 gsr and building my own turbo kit for it ( 5000 for car and 2000 for turbo kit).

They're not exactly cheap to mod. The cost of parts for a TII are just a little cheaper than FD parts.

Twinturbodork the 240 idea is a great one. The motors are strong and respond extremely well to boost. I have a friend who owns an S13 with an SR20DET and is pushing 23psi on stock internals. Great cars and motors. If you lived down here I tell you to have him install your engine. He can do it in about a week. Also the extra income is always a good thing when it comes to applying for a loan.

Get a MKIII Supra Targa Turbo. It'll change your life for the better. Stong engines, strong cars, strong driveline. Life is good.

88IntegraLS 09-17-2003 11:44 PM

How about a second gen MR2 turbo?

twinturbodork 09-17-2003 11:48 PM

those mr2s are too small, and the old supras are really ugly if you ask me, no offense to anyone who has one of those. i just dont like them.

i am picky, i know

twinturbodork 09-17-2003 11:55 PM

none of the other cars i can get dont even come close to what the fd is capible of, the fd is just king

twinturbodork 09-17-2003 11:56 PM

someone really needs to talk me out of an fd.

Theyre not exactly pretty, but a MkI Talon or eclipse...then you have AWD too. They are also easy as hell to make fast.

Yep.

My credit union financed my FD. I still have the title for the car too.

Vick 09-18-2003 07:47 AM

...and you could buy my car. A steal if you ask me.

PhoenixDownVII 09-18-2003 10:36 AM

I think you should def. get an Mr2 MKII Turbo.

Great handling. Rare. Reliable. not too Expensive...

You said it was too small, but rethink how much space you really need...

If you want a fast turbo car why should it be a spacey buik boat?

Sports cars are supposed to be small.

And i got 24mpg @ 14psi in my Mr2 turbo (didn't boost all the time though)

jayshadow 09-18-2003 11:08 AM

Why dont you Finance, find a co-signer parent or fiance. get the FD

Yarr!!!

twinturbodork 09-18-2003 04:57 PM

i have no-one to co-sign a loan for me.

Apex13B 09-18-2003 07:17 PM

get a 240sx and do the motor swap. Or get a turbo II. FD's cost too much initially

"the fd is king".........spend about 10K on a Z06 vette...you'll see what is king https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

Leetheslacker 09-18-2003 09:37 PM

A metro.

Dramon_Killer 09-18-2003 10:45 PM

A Supra.

twinturbodork 09-22-2003 05:53 PM

ill just wait and buy an fd
