[quote name='TYSON' date='Mar 31 2005, 09:16 AM']Those fix-it-yourself shops come and go pretty fast around here. Clientele is mostly those that are too cheap / broke to hire someone to fix it for them. You would like to get in the crowd that lives in a condo and drive a nice car, but I don't think you would get that crowd at all around here. Maybe in your area though.

I would suggest if the population is growing rapidly in your area you look into buying one house at a time, spending your time and a bit of money fixing it up and flipping it for a profit. Don't hold anything for longer than a couple months. If the house market is hot you should be able to make a bit of money without getting tied up long term in anything.

Turn what you've learned in your own recent experience with your house into something that makes you money. Make sure you don't own any of these houses during the hurricane season.

Yea, no LOL I don't enjoy working on my house, there's no way in hell i would want to do it for a living. **** sells amazingly fast here, but in the same regard everyone knows what it's worth. not to mention it wont last forever, I want something i can stick with here damn it.

No real estate.

I was noticing how in other areas they have 'biker bars' that are actually owned/branded the same as their retail store name - i.e. Stroker bikes in Vegas also runs Stroker Bar and Grill.. 1000's of bikers gather there every week.

What about something similar for car enthusiasts? Something off the mainstream.. A place to go and chill with an 18+ and a 21+ section, a cigar bar and a big 'ol pad of blacktop.

Around here, when the car guys get together, it's at someone's shop. Imagine if dude were to sell beer at his shop. Or, if he charged $1.00 admission to the lot. Easily 1000 cars/night show up. Now I know $1000/day isn't a lot, except when you think that'd just be from the parking lot - let alone anything inside.

I agree in staying away from the fix it yourself crowd.

Seems to me that there's a craze for Elises, Nobles and track-biased cars over there right now, a bit like over here a few years ago and they're still selling here stronger than ever. From talking to the guys that make my kit car and others that I have bought parts off, they all seem pretty interested in overseas sales - seems to be the norm for the industry too. Maybe talk to a few of them, get an official distributer status or whatever, setting up a shop building turnkey cars and selling kits shouldn't come close to your budget.

I have no idea about crash safety regs over there but any emmissions can be easily passed with the right engine and cat. I know the US have kit cars too (Factory 5 etc.) but the kit industry in the UK has come on a huge amount in the last few years - cars that are lighter, better handling and faster than your average Elise are pretty common nowadays. Something like a SSC Stylus or the usual AC Cobra or Lotus 7 replicas.

I've talked about doing that before knowing how bad it sucks to not have access to a shop. The big question I think is insurance.

Probably cost you a mint.

When I asked my insurance agent about a PRIVATE garage only open to a few people they said they would have to insure it like a regular shop. For one open to the public it could only get worse.
