i knew about piston engines never really touched no rotary or anything. friend showed me his 2nd gen, began explaining the engine, showed me some pics of the engine and i was hooked, the fact that there was something out there i never dealt with and something most people didnt have drew me to it.

i've always aimed for **** people didnt have. i was ahead of the jeep lift craze, now everyone ni my town has one, i was the only kid i knew who owned a durango, and now im part of a unique and small group of rotary owners, and damn proud of it.

I went shopping for a used 5.0 Mustang in 1986. I went to a Mazda dealership to see what they had on the used car lot. They did not have any 5.0's. The salesman walked me over to a 1984 RX-7 GS. It didn't have back seats and I was not too keen on that. He told me that it was a "real" sports car. He convinced me to drive it. I bought it. I have owned on and off 5 different RX-7's since then.

Almost bought a 3rd gen but love my TII too much. My favorite is still the FD though.

Was reading up on the history of the NSU Prinz I owned and ran across the NSU Wankel Spyder...was telling my dad about the car and he mentioned that Mazda used the rotary engine in their RX-7 and....

Years later I was sitting in the parking lot of a Vons and saw one sitting next to me and thought "Yeah I'd like one of those now". Two days later my dad bought one at an Salvation Army auction having no clue that I was interested in one.

Saw an NSU Wankel Spyder a couple of years back at a car show I went to with UniqueTII. The guy freaked out cause we knew about the engine and what not. That was freaking cool.
