HA! Another Land Surveyor!! I would never imagine finding one here.

I got my Surveying License when I was 28 years old. after 8 years in the business. I now own my own land surveying company and have 9 Employees plus myself.

The average age of my staff is 23 years old. I have some really cool employees. My little bro works here and we race our RX-7's together.

I take everyone out one Friday a month to the local Draft House and get them all drunk and eat wings and play pool all afternoon.
Cool man!! I am about to turn 23 been surveying for 5 years, and I had just qualified to take the test so I went ahead and gave it a shot. I'd like to go ahead and get that under my belt, and then perhaps get my PE when I go back to school. But you never know, I may end up doing something completetly different. I've been kinda in and out of the office for the past couple years, doing cad work, running crews, and overseeing the projects. I'm just getting tired of having to bust my *** outside all the time and decided its time to go back to school.

I'm a system administrator & programmer... work at a large hosting company (> 600 linux based servers). Most of the time I end up dealing with perl and php junk, building custom binaries for specific customer needs... Occasionally I get to customize some packages for our needs which gets into more 'real' programming tasks (C, which is my personal favorite)... The rest of the time it's just babysitting computers and tracking down the latest formmail exploit that made one of our servers send 100,000 emails to aol users. Oh, and racing my coworkers with R/C cars in the warehouse or microsizers in the cube farm.

I've worked as a mechanic in the past when I wanted to learn more about cars, which included CarX (shop bitch turned brake/oil/etc 'tech') and v8archie.com helping with v8 fiero conversions, archies one of the best guys I've met in the auto industry btw.

Retired this summer after 30 years teaching high school. Now I'm working on a stable of IT cars for rent. It's been fun hanging at the track all summer and fall.

The stable:

89 GTUs - former Escort Endurance car

89 GTU - street car

87 Sport - becoming an IT car

74 260Z - IT car

72 240Z - IT car

71 MGBGT - to be vintage car

65 Austin Healey 3000 - Sunday drive - started this addiction

Nice forum

Dave
