i was building my renesis to go into my 1st gen. but she got traded today for a 1990 GTU roller that has a pretty clean body.

now, i have the reni sitting there half done. i also have a TII motor with s5 NA rotors, nice bridge, pinned, and all that. also, i was thinking of swapping the TII motor from my coupe into the GTU cause the body is in better condition and i like the white better. plus it would be cool to have a TII/GTU...

what to do???

the reni would be an awesome daily driver project.

the BP motor would be an even better track project.

and the TII motor from my coupe is running and ready to drive.

send me the engine you dont use and I'll love you long time..

Tough to say man.. what are you needing now? I would love a race project, but realistically, you might have to make time to do track days and what not.. if you can fit those in I say go for it.. I always think about how much more fun it would be to race rather than be getting pulled over for doing some stupid **** on the road.

this is kinda why im stuck. i really want to do an all out race car. but if i do an all out race car, i want it to be all motor. cause i would not want to back half or tub it. stock chassis to me is real racing. after you cut it up into little aluminum peices. its not the original car it was designed as. an FC just dosnt seem to be a good all motor race car. a 1st gen or rx3/2/r100 is ideal. or an old school toyota.

the reni seems like a good way to go, but i cant see myself spending all that time and money to just be slow. lol... well not slow. still faster than most NA 13b's on the road. and swapping in all the good stuff from my black 91 just seems like a lot of work to have the GTU title. ehhh....

what to do?

i love the look of 2nd gens over 1st gens anyday. but the extra 500-600lbs (in stock form) bothers me. i could sheet metal the entire interior and get and still put rug and all the interior in for a clean stock look and drop a lot of weight. but the noice would drive me crazy i bet.

I say build a driver then, since you like the look. Something streetworthy that you can slap some wheels on and enjoy. just hopefully not too much that we get to see you on America's wildest police Chases.

the only way i will not go over board is if i use the Reni. all the AC stuff is still in the car minus the pump. i never had an rx7 with AC or kept "streetable". this is probley the best route. im leaning towards it more and more...

it depends, as usual. in a sprint type car, it doesn't matter. our enduro car though is probably the quietest honda you've seen in a while, too much noise is tiring.

One of my lead guys at work commented that he can't believe I haven't gotten an exhaust ticket yet... because my **** is LOUD.

He's right, but who the **** cares. Nothing like the sound of a rotary at full bore revved out to 8 grand... it's stock internally and over 110k miles so I've been taking it easy, haven't taken it past 7700 yet.

I drove my 1st gen before for 24 hours...it had a header and a straight through to a 30 dollar flowmaster type muffler...**** i used to drive it 6 hours a day just to go to work and back...i loved the thing!! The 2nd gen will be quieter but not by much...

I pretty much have a similar setup, header, straight 2.5" pipe, chrome cannon.
