Turning into a mall parking lot, sloped road, pouring rain. I approached the turn at maybe 10 mph, turned the wheel, but the car kept going straight. My front drivers side corner slammed into his rear drivers side fender. He'll need his fender fixed, and maybe a new bumper. I'll need a new hood, fender, bumper, and entire headlight assembly. My lights were up, but now the one is pretty much peeled back. Got to call my insurance company now...

Ok, I was written a ticket. Nowhere on the ticket does it say I have to pay anything, but it does say "failure to use due care." I see no dollar amount anywhere on the ticket, except for the estimated damage. I called the police department, and asked them if I was supposed to pay anything (because I'd hate to find out the hard way, after my time limit was up). They said it's a $93 penalty, or I could take traffic school (or take it to court, but that would be pretty stupid).

So, do you think the officer had the intention of placing a fee on the ticket? I mean, do they write tickets without any penalty at all? I'm sure I could fight it or something, but in my opinion that would be stupid. I plan to do the take-home traffic school videos from Blockbuster.

And I'm broke! That's the part that sucks!

Take home traffic videos at Blockbuster? That is sweet! I had to go sit for a full 8 hour day at the traffice school here in AZ.

Did the officer give you any other paper work? Out here they give a brochure describing your options (including driving school or court) based on the ticket but dont necessarily write a fine amount on the ticket.

Due care at 10 MPH??? Sure.

I love it. Couldn't it just be chalked up to the fact that the surface is like glass and your car slid on it. It was an accident it wasnt like you were racing someone across the lot.... where you?

Sorry to hear that dude.

At least nobody was hurt. The other driver was not pissed off? Most people get pissed off if you don't use turn signals or drive 5mph over the speed limit in Southern MD.
