What Is Control?

So, what is control?
I'm doing an English project and my part of the project requires me to define control. Not as in a Webster's dictionary definition, but like a webpage including thought-provoking visuals and insight. That sort of thing.
I've tried desperately to find Simulacra and Simulation, the book that the Wachowskis used to influence their writing of The Matrix, as well as Take the Red Pill, another book about philosophy and The Matrix. Needless to say, no bookstore around here carries either and if I ordered them they would arrive too late (my project is due Tuesday).
So...to the point, I'm asking for the philosophers in all of you to post your ideas/input/whatever.

How about the Bible?
A lot of references in the Matrix are drawn from the bible, and even some of the "philosophies."
The Idea of losing control, and letting go, is somewhat of a "realization" as far as I'm concerned.
As a christian, it's easy to understand where that desire to "Control" came from, and its exposed with God's introduction into your life. Very surreal, in fact...just very real.
We all have a tendency to want control over our lives, whereas in losing it (giving it) to God has gained me more control than ever before (Essentially...In His Hands).
The lines run much deeper than this, but I don't want to start a religious debate. Overall it's just in our nature to want control and to seek certain things (as the Bible states and forever is proven true).

The first thought that comes to mind when I hear control is religion. I'm also a Christian and I'm struggling with defining what is "good" control and what's bad. Control has a strong negative connotation, in my opinion.
I don't want to spark a religious debate either, so let's control this thread and keep the subject about control and what relates to it.

In a very shallow interpretation of control, I'm controlling my hands that are typing this message. Is it an illusion that I'm controlling my hands?
In a deeper sense I can understand how it can be an illusion. Control is like a set of rules one places on themselves to govern. Am I interpreting correctly?

what is control? control is something that is used to manipulate the ideas, thoughts and actions of those around you. in a sense all control is, is information. those who have the information have control......if you want to go to the old saying "knowledge is power" and most people believe that power = control. to compare that to the "matrix" take the marovingian-sp he was only interested in what? information. in a real life situation look back at the early roman catholic church....the pope and all those under him in the church were the only ones that were able to read the acient greek that the bible was written in. this let them control the thought beliefs and actions of all of europe because they had the power of information. it wasn't until the printing press and Johannes Gutenberg that the bible was actually translated and distributed. another example is modern governments. they control their people's actions and ideas through information. do you honestly think we have 1/100 of an idea what is happening throughout the world? that's my opinion anyway.

Excellent example man. It's so awesome that you used power...my project revolves around a central idea, and I chose power to be the central idea for my group. Thanks a lot for the input, I really appreciate it!
