dry weather, but drifting was fun especially going 70 sideways

but heres the downside, i looked closely at my tires a few days back and noticed the i tore the sides up so bad that its down to the metal wires... oh well i needed to change those stupid dunlops anyway. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

sliding will definetly increase the wear on the tires. Z rated or not is not a big concern. Just becarefull not to get the tires too hot, or roll over to the side wall. The tires will have heat blisters (bubbles on sidewall)

drifting in the rain will be a lot better for tire wears, but you can slide in a much higher speed in dry, and is much more fun!

so what are the ideal drifting tires?

just wondering....will STUPID stiff suspension help with getting the car going into the drift?....any pointers/links will be appreciated. i can do it in the snow/mud all day long, but i cant get my car to slide in the dry for ****!!!

stiff suspension can make be good if it was valved right. Tein makes a type HE which is quite good for drifting. A lot of Japanese guys uses Cusco or HKS suspension for drifting too. Anyways, to have a stiff suspension, you need to get matching tires, something that doesn't have too much grip and won't roll onto its side wall.

You will also need more power to break a car lose on the dry pavement or more speed. Weight transfer is a big key player in the game of "controlled slide" https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/wacko.png

since a stiffer suspension will be more sensitive to get weight transfered. it won't be a bad idea to have a slightly stiffer suspension. Look at the japanese D1 cars, when they come into the slide, the car does not lean or sway on the drift.
