bigtime 06-25-2002 02:46 PM

HAHAHAHA do u even know what a navy seal is?

Seppuku 06-25-2002 02:48 PM

yeah i know what they are.

UniqueTII 06-25-2002 02:50 PM

If your recruiter told you you'd get to be a seal as soon as you joined, he was lying, and if you believed him...well, you're bigtime.

sidewinderx7 06-25-2002 02:59 PM

lol.. sooo true. You cant just join up and head into BUDs. And just so you know, you wont pass it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png If you think im an ******* for saying that, just wait untill you are actually in training. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png Then you'll meet some assholes.

Expect to not be in BUDs for atleast 3 years. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png I always wanted to try BUDs ... good luck man. Just remember, you wont make it. :bigok:

bigtime 06-25-2002 03:44 PM

d00d i know what i have to do to get to buds. and yes i can pass it. and i know everything u have to go though

phinsup 06-25-2002 03:49 PM

Recruiter will tell you whatever the **** you want to hear. They are just salesmen.

bigtime 06-25-2002 04:02 PM

he didnt tell me i would get to be a seal as soon as i joined. he said i have to go through basic training and then tell them i wanna try out for BUDS then i can get on the waiting list basically

phinsup 06-25-2002 04:06 PM

How long is the waiting list?

bigtime 06-25-2002 04:08 PM

i dunno... but know this. i will be a SEAL

If you want it bad enough, you have the right attitude (and that's not the kill every ******* thing out there cuz I'm a bad mudda ignorant attitude) and your body can do it, yeah you'll make it.

But whatever you do, don't think you know what they go through. It changes all the time and the guys who do the training thrive on breaking people.

ThirdGenRX7 06-25-2002 04:58 PM

i'm gonna be an astronaut https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png and after that i'm gonna be president!!!

SoRRoW 06-25-2002 05:19 PM

Them telling you that you will be a seal is the oldest trick in the book..

Wait till your out with 200 men on a boat for months..dont let them find out you have tossed salads..lol

https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/moon.gif :P

bigtime 06-25-2002 05:57 PM

hahaha

seal teams arent made of 200 men.... very very small teams

bigtime 06-25-2002 05:57 PM

and i can take whatever abuse they wanna dish out.

Rob x-7 06-25-2002 06:17 PM

If your going to be a seal, then dont bother with finishing the turbo conversion. I watched the seals training on tv, good luck to you. Maybe by this time next year youll be a navigation man or some ****... I guess we should change your name from Salad Tosser to SEAMEN BIGTIME. And remember- those recruiters have to meet a quota they could give a **** what they tell you and what your hopes and ambitions are. By the way- I was in the marines.

bigtime 06-25-2002 06:37 PM

no i told the recruiter he wasnt gonna recruit me i just wanted some info i told him i was 16 and hes like o alright

Rotaryman88 06-25-2002 06:44 PM

I talked to the Navy about a year ago...then they started talking about all this BS and how great the Navy was, the only reason I went in was to talk to one of the recruiters about a side job he had going on and needed help programming. When he started trying to get me to join the Navy and I realized it was all a big trap, I said "**** the Navy" and walked out https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

horn4858 06-25-2002 06:51 PM

look at it like an adventure

SoniX 06-25-2002 07:06 PM

yeah, recruiters for the most part will tell you anything you want to hear, and being 16 is no protection, they look at the long term. Becoming a SEAL is a good goal, but, and it is a big but, you have to realize that the chances of you even being accepted for the training are slim to none, unless you have outstanding line scores on the ASVAB and consistently incredible PT scores, like 300+ every time, and even then, look at serving in the navy for at least 3 years before STARTING the SEAL training.

And by the way, Navy sucks, go army, and get your Airborne, and Ranger tabs, then I will look up to you (1st. SGT Haskins is my hero)

ThirdGenRX7 06-25-2002 07:09 PM

i've already talked to the nasa guy and i'm going up in a few weeks :(

thats all wrong....

the test to get into BUDS consists of the following:

80 sit ups in 2 mins, 1 minute break

100 push ups in 2 mins, 2 minute break

8 DEAD LIFT chin ups

1 and a half mile run in army boots

swim sideways for 500 yards (not freestyle) in 13 minutes

Rob x-7 06-25-2002 07:34 PM

I was going to be president of the United States, but I have something on my permanent record from grade school that also stopped me from getting into the F.B.I..... agent Starling, is that you?? DOCTOR LECTER???

Twin89Stangs 06-25-2002 07:43 PM

Thats a STEEDA emblem, a Mustang tuner...correct?

isamu 06-25-2002 11:11 PM

Bigtime you are 16, we were all 16 once and can therefore understand your obstructed outlook on life. Don't worry, its all good. Here is some good ol fashioned advice:

If you join the armed forces work the recruiter like you are buying a car. Get what he promises in writing and signed or some **** like that. Plus don't just do it one day when you are bored and out of weed, go back a few times and suck as much college money out of them as you can. Like Phinsup said they are salesman. Btw they will now call you twice a month until you are 23 and talk to you like you guys were best buds back in high school. Well I never served so I don't know first hand, but this is the jist I got over the years.

With all that said, I think the military is great. You get to learn how to do things in a disciplined manner and have some interesting experiences. But it is what you make it, and it can be very worthwhile or a waiste of time, its your call. The same can be applied to school.

OKIERX-7 06-25-2002 11:54 PM

LMAO! This is the funniest thread I"ve read in a while. Nice new title bigtime. SEAMEN! ROFL!

"I'm going to be an astronaut then I'm going to be President!"ROTFLMFAO!!!

Do yourself a favor, go to a JROTC of your choice and talk to them. Try the Coast guard or reserves... They will pay for your college and you'll actually have time to go as well. Enlisting is not the greatest idea. They do pay for your schooling but you don't have time to go and unless you are going career you will never be a NAVY SEAL, no matter how well you are qualified. The Air Force pays the best and has the best benefits, that's a fact. Don't go Marines, they are like the worst branch to go into. Navy you'll be spending all your time on a boat. Army is the biggest service branch and have some good benefits too. But if you're really smart, Air Force is the way to go.

Twin89Stangs 06-25-2002 11:55 PM

correct.

It is a steeda emblem.

good call.

yes they are Ford tuner...

Foci'

Rangers

F150's

Mustang

Explorers

"professional Seaman Salad Tosser" ????

lol oh that is bad....

If this is something you want Bigtime Go for it.

I looked into it but was unimpressed... and yes they kept calling me and calling me and calling me. Then they started calling at wierd hours to see if I was getting into any trouble etc... then I finally told them to basically **** off but in nicer terms! But hey sky is the limit. If ya want it bad enough you will usually get it.

SoRRoW 06-26-2002 02:19 AM

Twinstangs ..thats wrong..lol...

Now hes a seamen/salad tosser....This world Is going to hell..what is the youth thinking..lol

It's not just physical, they look at the mental side of it like I said above. They're looking for a certain attitude, mindset and physical capability.

Don't say you can do it till you do it. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

That being said I think the military would be a good choice if you remember the following:

1) They own you

2) They own you

3) They own you

And

Keep your mouth shut

Keep your mouth shut

Keep your mouth SHUT.

Depending on where you wind up and the training you go through will dictate just how nasty they get. I'm told they are not quite as bad as they used to be, but I can't imagine any gunny not getting in someones face or playing some sort of mind games.

Full Metal Jacket is pretty accurate.

If I were to head in at your age, I'd do Army Corps of Engineers or if Navy JumpJet mechanics. Of course to do either of those you have to have pretty damn good grades and a knack for it.

Have to fit in and keep your yap shut....

SoniX 06-26-2002 04:34 AM

Damn engineers, most psychotic, gung ho branch of the army, "first we dig em, then we die in em" when I went to basic, I was across the street from a company of combat engineers, those people are downright crazy, I have a lot of respect for them. they like to blow **** up.

treceb 06-26-2002 06:41 AM

i just hope that good grammar isnt a requirement.

Yeah they're nuts allright. It seems like they spend half their time looking for places to build bridges.

Ya know that ghia I was talking about? Ex Army Engineer owned it. Needless to say it was a reallll intresting car.

yes i will

u dont even know me how the hell do u know if i qualify or not

UniqueTII 06-26-2002 10:30 AM

Have you had any endurance training?

I find it hard to believe that the test to get in consists of push ups and sit ups...this isn't gym class. Everyone I have talked to about the Seal training talks about cold water survival, sleep deprivation, and other physical abuse. What have you done to make you think you can handle all that?

Notice, I am only asking why you think you can make it...I'm not assuming you can't.

bigtime 06-26-2002 10:32 AM

no the things i listed are only to get INTO training.... and 100 push ups in 2 minutes then going right into 8 DEAD LIFT pull ups is very difficult

bigtime 06-26-2002 10:32 AM

and a 500 yard side ways swim aint no picnici either, not alot of people pass it

UniqueTII 06-26-2002 10:55 AM

Can you do it? I don't think I could do 100 pushups in an hour, let alone a couple minutes. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png
