LOL my 750 is lighter than my 600. Let's see 365 dry weight and 130+ HP. Yea anyhow, it's more the balance of the bike that will keep it from tipping over rather than you. No matter what bike you are getting if you lay it over too far at a stand still you won't be able to pick it back up.

Personally, I would buy a nice 600, start there. It was about 4 years before I was truly riding the living **** out my 600 and decided I needed something more, now I made a pretty big switch, went from a 91 Katana 600 to a 99 FI GSX-R 750 I've ridden a lot of bikes, but the GSX-R just feels perfect, once you have been riding for a while you'll know what you want. For now I wouldn't even buy a new bike, bike something used.

I had a friend that was big into the Kawasaki 3 cylinder bikes. H2, H3 and the like.

There was a bike made down in Brazil called the Amazon that was powered by a VW engine. CB performance got a hold of one and they had to put a side car on it to keep it from throwing the rider.

Rotary bike....hrmmm. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png There was one, but I was told it kinda sucked due to displacement restrictions by NSU.

I'd love to try it, but I'd have to get someone else to test ride it https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.png

The Norton was rotary, it didn't necessarily suck, it was loud as a muther fugger though.

I always liked the looks of the Suzuki SV650. I think it would be a great first bike. After a year or two you could trade it in or sell it for something bigger. I kinda like the naked bikes, plus your insurance would be a little cheaper I believe.

The SV-650 is a neat bike, would actually like to pick one up cause they are cheap, get the full fairings and use it as my track bike. Hard converting the GSXR back and forth even though it a killer track bike.

yeah, as far as not wanting a 600 cause you might tip it, I have ridden a 800 (900? not sure) CBR and it was so light I could toss it from one hand to the other without any trouble, plus fun, far too much fun, and I only weigh 165 myself, then again, I learned to ride on a 2001 Fat boy, 800 lb beast, now that thing is one heavy ass bike, but there is something rewarding about lugging around at 35 mph in 3rd gear, and just punching it without shifting, and suddenly be going 70 https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png

CBR 900... and I would consider that a "tank" so that gives you a pretty good idea of the weight differences, there really isn't much, in fact a 99 GSX-R 750 weighs less than a 99 GSXR 600

SoniX 05-29-2002 03:22 PM

damn you all, now I want a bike, hmm, maybe I could get that, for a daily driver, and keep my FC as autocross, and girlfriend transporter, with some drifting in between, hmmm, pricewise, what kind of bike should I look at? cheap, reliable, and semi quick, wait, I think i just described a honda.

phinsup 05-29-2002 03:30 PM

HA HA yea the "semi-quick" was the deal maker! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png

SoniX 05-29-2002 03:38 PM

hey, you know the saying, "speed kills, drive a Honda"

besides, the 11-12 second 1/4 that the CBR900 I drove does is more than enough for me, especially on 2 wheels, and I am cheap, horribly horribly cheap. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/smile.png
