!0 years experience with your month old license?

phinsup 05-19-2006 09:37 PM

Experience operating a boat, i didnt say 10 years with my license.

Time is documented with the coast guard anyhow https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...DIR#>/wink.png Just because you don't have a captains license doesn't mean you don't have any seatime.... you don't have to be licensed to operate a vessel for pleasure.

not bad, something like that should be simple anyways. you're after the dumb rich ones, cause the smart poor ones are whiners, and the dumb poor people are poor, and the smart rich people won't buy yer stuff anyways

Counts as sea time if you documented it, then you have to go through the courses, then you have to take the tests, then physical, background, drug test, etc, etc... so yea i guess it counts as something.... experience.

oh you have to take the merchant mariners oath and tell them that you'll uphold the laws and jump in front of torpedos if asked.

phinsup 05-21-2006 08:48 PM

With the current plan i'll prolly get my masters within another year or so, i need another 360 days of sea time, of which I already 150 or so.

j/k, looks good to me. Is it like a full time business venture then,

or just something fun to pass the time that you happen to get paid for?

Deliveries aren't all that easy to make a living at, you can make some decent money if you get a good clientel that wants to go back and forth each year, but that takes a while to build up, you make great money, it's hard to get steady work.

I have my towing endorsement, so i can operate a towboat or a tug, i will prolly try and hire on with towboat us here soon.

Amy and i plan on doing some sailing in the next couple years, don't know how much of the carribean we'll be able to cross off the list, but we shall see.

l8t apex 05-21-2006 10:41 PM

Well ,

with 98% boaters not knowing the rules of the water and that I will never use it in a commercial app I think its not for me.

Lets see.....Red, Right return? Or is Green going? Over take on portside? Fastest boat has right-of-way!(JK)

Hey or those channel markers? (No idoit crab traps)

I sing a lot on 16 ...its gets a response all the time. Mike check , mike check....my handle is One But Naked!

My boat call sign....Specks-a-peal.

phinsup 05-21-2006 10:46 PM

i'd say making the statement that 98% of the boaters dont know the rules is a bit generous, i'd prolly go with 99.9% of them, I see so many idiots when I am on the water I cant believe it.... and I see it several times a week and still cant believe it.

Rob x-7 05-22-2006 07:16 PM

for deliverys contact some local dealers, all the dealers here use captains when it comes to new boat delivery, they are not really empoyess of the place, they just get called in. The guys that work for the marinas get pissed that they dont get used.

They always get some lessons out of it as well.

phinsup 05-22-2006 10:58 PM

Yea i wondered about that, i didnt figure they would employ someone full time for that.

Rob x-7 05-23-2006 06:00 AM

its not really full time, they bring them in usually on the weekends, but they also use them to transport boats from one area to another, or to boat shows and what not.

People with alot of money and big boats dont move the boats themselves for service and when they trade them in.
