His choice of a .223cal might show a military backround. Also, I have seen the police on TV looking all around, but have no shell casings. This might also show a militray or police backround as he cleans up the area or uses a bolt gun. Bolt guns in .223cal are not unknown, but are not used very much as there are faster/better rounds in that cal.(220 swift, 22-250, etc)
If he is taken alive, a just reward would be to give him to the familys of the people that were killed. In some Islamic countries they would behead him, not a bad idea.(put it on prime time TV!)
