Sidewinder, I do not believe the only reason we went in to Iraq was only to find the weapons, but it was the most publisized reason. We went in overall to make sure the Iraqi war machine would be put to rest once and for all. We can all speculate what could have been found. But I look at it this way another dictatorship has been overthrown and the human beings of Iraq can now live their lives as they see fit. Although some may have been happy with their lives during the regime, Most did not have the ability to choose the lives they wanted to lead. We have that freedom. And most of the world has that freedom. The US did not act alone in this. This was a coalition to make sure that the attrocities of the past in Iraq were not repeated. I have to follow the orders of the president of the US, it is a contract I signed when I joined the military. I may not agree with everything we do, but the world turns out to be a better place when we do Imagine a life of servitude, all the time, with no choices, no free speech without fear of prosecution, and imagine you are forced to live that life knowing the freedoms you have now. I say let them all go bankrupt then if the US sees fit to occupy that country they can just walk in and take it. Imagine how easy it would be to take down a country with no money or weapons?
I say spend the BILLIONS on the US and its armed forces. Develop weapons that will scare the hell out of other countries. The cold war was awesome we need another one. Too bad Russia went down the tubes when the US would not support it financially. Now there is no real competitor to race against in the arms race.

camel, i fully agree with everything you said. Unfortunatly people have been trying to put words in my mouth for lack of an actual educated response. I in no way support saddam. I in no way suppord communism or any dictatorships. I DO like democracy. Im NOT leaving this country to go live in iraq and become a taliban guerrila.
Understand this (to all you people that keep trying to shoot me down) before you reply about how i should live in another country because i loooove the saddam so much.
Just realize that the reason that bush gave to the public and the reason of the coalition was because they thought that iraq was harboring weapons of mass distruction. They have yet to find any. Therefor, the MAIN reasoning had for the invasion is non existant. You are in the military, and i support our military (so no one puts words in my mouth) ... how would you feel if you died over something like that? You died because some guy said "hey! they have big weapons! lets get them! .. wait.. i was wrong". Too late, youre already dead. Thats what I dont like about the US trying to "police" the world. They always shoot first and ask questions later, ending result being alot of dead people.
As for them living a better life, of course they might not like it at first, but over time (if it doesnt return to a dictatorship) they will have a better way of life. But i sure as hell wouldnt want to be the new man in charge there ... lol.. talk about assassination attempts up the ***!
