Let's say this is all true-then the new Viper Competition runs what, an SRT-4 computer to handle the extra horsepower? Give us a break...like Dodge would/could do that and put it in a $90-$130k car and actually get away with it? Bah! As someone else mentioned, how do the Neon and Caravan's computers run the exact same ignition timing and fuel maps as the Viper? In what world would that work? Certainly not this one...

And the "welding crankshafts" idea is complete lunacy. Let's begin with the fact that firstly, the Neon is an INLINE 4 (4 cylinders in a row), and the Caravan is a V-6 (2 banks of 3 cylinders each)! How, pray tell, does that add up to a V-10 (2 banks of 5 cylinders each)? you'd end up with an inline 4 mated to a v-6...if anything.

If your teacher expects people to swallow this hogwash, he's friggin nuts!

if u honestly dont believe me call up chrysler and ask to talk to one of thier engineer's or call up a dodge dealer and ask to talk to one of thier viper techs

I know this can't be right...just not possible, but have to admit I'm curious to see the "proof" in this book or whatever. No way in hell I'm calling Dodge to ask some crazy **** like that though...that's on you dude!

I don't believe you and I'm not calling ... why don't you go ahead and prove us wrong? After all you were the one that started this ...

All of this sounds wayyy to farfetched for any of this to actually even work. Dodge or rather Daimler Chrysler would not cut costs to build the Viper V10 engine. So why don't you call Dodge, and prove us wrong?

Using the coils I can see, but give your head a shake if you honestly think the crank is possible.

Remember a simple little statement:

Those who CAN, DO!

Those who CAN'T, TEACH! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...IR#>/bigok.gif

Even Dodge is stupid enough to realise that its more cost affective to forge their own crankshaft rather than trying to tig the thing together...and it would rattle apart within the first 5 minutes of testing...not much of an engine for a lemans type racer but it could explain why the engines just spontaneously combust into flame...

And since LAMBOURGHINI has a hand in developing the new dodge viper engine, I seriously doubt they would do something so retardedly stupid. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/unsure.png

The basic design of the block is the hemi, sure, but the entire block is cast out of aluminum, in one piece.

OK OK

1) The Viper preceded the Neon by a few years...

2) I hope you mean crank angle sensor or somehting else CRANK... I used to work at a forge shop (Louisville Forge and Gear here in KY) that manufactured camshafts, crankshafts, nuchol gears you name it. You don't just weld a crank to a crank... A huge chunk of billet steel is heated then rough stamped, heated then stamped again, heated then stamped final. You die grind it a little here and there to match spec. Then it is magnafluxed... AND THAT IS FOR A ******* CAMRY, COROLLA OR A JOHN DEERE not a 400+ HP VIPER!!!
