from now on the viper shall be called the 'neo-van' ....reason: since dodge didnt really have an ignition system, crank, or computer system, they decieded to use a 4cylinder crank from a neon and a 6cylinder crank from they caravan thus 10cylinders, for the ignition system they did the same using the 6cylinder one from the caravan and 4cylinder one from neon, and the computer for ignition system also.....my teacher said that if u remove the sticker from the ignition block u can see that one says 1-6 and the other says 1-4

Leetheslacker 06-17-2004 11:00 PM

yeah right

im sure they took the time to join together a i4 and i6 crank, and to magically make a neon and caravan ecu work together in any way shape or form.

your teacher is a fuckwad.

oh yeah, did you know gullible isnt in the dictionary?

they operate independintly the ignition system that is and the crank is welded together........if u dont believe me look it up

unless the neon and caravan run the exact same fuel and ignition maps, which i doubt, it wouldnt run. If it did it would tear the welded crank apart.

and i doubt dodge would sell a motor with a crank that was just welded together to the public.

it's actually stated in the UTI course book that they give us at school now that i think of it.......it says the 4cylinder coil is controlled by the module and the 6cylinder coil is controlled by the pcm.....this is actually for every dodge v-10 out there

*phone rings* Did someone order a https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/bsflag.gif?

There is no way that two cranks can be welded together and BAM! V10 crankshaft. An I4 crankshaft is not the same size as a V6 crankshaft.

Even the ECU's cannot work together. A crankshaft is designed to handle the power and torque of the engine it is in. But, an I4 and V6 crankshaft, ECU, and other **** together? I call another https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/bsflag.gif

Sorry buddy welding cranks together doesn't work

Theres too many reasons to list why

you could if you had the resources - and for the effort it takes to weld them together and actually make it work and LAST it is more cost effective and less time consuming to cast a new crank

not to mention for mass production purposes they wouldnt be welding cranks together especially in their high class SPORTSCAR

casting a crank is more cost effective

this isnt rocket science either, this is begginner mechanics. you should have been telling him bullshit from the moment he told you that. or taken it with a grain of salt and not bother posting about it

WRONG, do you really think that a company as rich in resources as Chrysler would put up a shitty product like the Viper? Comon now, the car is the greatets thing we have made domestically since the Cobra of the 60's.
