How the hell do I turn a video into a mpeg? I have some **** I want to put on disk, but don't know how. Is it even possible? It's a Sony Hi-8 camera. It came with a bunch of software... MGI Video Suite III... Some ****... I wanna put my video on my computer dammit.. So I can edit it & ****...



Can anyone help?

well the software will let you do that. Now if you are talking about getting the video from the camera to your hard drive.... usually sony uses firewire to connect to pc's. So if you have a firewire port on your pc then you just need the cable. If your pc does not have a firewire connection(most likly) then you will have to get a firewire card that will plug into one of your empty pci slots and the cable. There are other adaptors on the market that convert the rca out signal from the camera to usb. both ways work, but I think the firewire way may be cheaper. Hope this helps a little :bigok:

oh yeah, you can also get a video capture card, that will have the rca connections on the back of it

On top of the wires that you need. Your also gonna need the drivers for your camera. If it's a Sony you can go to sony.com and search for "drivers" You can usually get them free.

Thanks guys. I thought I could just use the USB port like I do to get the stills off the camera. Blah..
