The 1999 **** its injector pump this morning. So it needs a rebuilt pump (price range 1000-2000 for the pump). Plus the 99 needs new ball joints and some maintenance

The 92 is running, but needs an AC Compressor, various parts and the transmission is going to need a rebuild soon.

The dilemma is which truck to keep and fix. https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...R#>/violin.gif

Before I sound like a complete ass, I'm not a big dodge fan.......at all lol

You should be able to find a remanned pump for much cheaper. The ball joints themselves aren't badly priced but you'll need a ball joint press to get those out. Overall the first one sounds a bit easier and cheaper if you do it right but needs special tools. But then again so does doing the AC work, and the trans work is something I won't even touch. Something else to look at is the bearings on the front of the trucks. I've seen more bearing issues with dodge pickups than any other make.

The reman pumps run from (50 for a stock rebuild to 2K for all the upgrades and a new electronics package

Update: Beentroubleshooting the harness(per the 1689 trouble code) what a pain in the ass

banzaitoyota 06-07-2011 08:56 PM

Update, started ringing out the harness to see if its a wiring short

What does the 1689 code mean? I don't have access to Mitchell anymore lol

Not sure if it's relevant, but on April 15, 1689 French King Louis XIV declared war on Spain.

I would probably focus my efforts on the newer truck, but that might vary depending on overall condition and mileage.

The injector pump is electronic?

Are you sure you can't source the HP pump from a junk yard?

BTW, you can spend $1,000 to 2,000 on air conditioning in nothing flat. The parts for my mercedes are cheap by most standards and to replace the whole system runs around $1,000 in parts.

OK Time for an update:

the 92 is running fine, I am just leery of a 400K tranny. - found the electrical prob with the power windows so it can be driven in SC without AC now. It received a full fluid maintenance today

The 99 had the harness rung out between the e

ECM connector and the FPCM connector. no problems found. Reassembled using Stabilant 22 on all pins; I also put in a new fuel filter since it was apart to access the ECM connector. Fired right up' no codes. I will monitor for codes (the Actron OBDII monitor is sitting on the seat)

FYI rebuilding diesel pumps is fairly simple and most parts only need to be cleaned up and refreshed. O-ring replaced ect, but no big ticket work unless the head seized or the plunger and barrels are way out wack, or need refinishing. Let me know if you want me to rebuild the injectors or pump or anything.

Why can't people just leave our engines alone! https://www.nopistons.com/forums/pub...#>/biggrin.gif
