What field of work were you in exactly? Why would the boss be so pissed unless you were an extremely valuable member of the company which you may have been, or went into the meeting and said something to the effect... Ha Ha, I'm going to fly so **** you!!! (Translate--- Didn't handle your side of the meeting well)

Anywho, it sounds like you have made the right choice by leaving this company. Flying will take away all your bad stress and only add good stress.

Well what the deal is: I've worked at this civil engineering firm for 3 1/3 years as their top surveyor. I have been the survey manager for most of that time, or at least keep it running. Last year things got slow and they laid off several people at work (its a small company, family type atmosphere), so there were about 8 of us left and I was the only surveyor. I agreed to stay during the slow time and see how things work out and if work would pick back up. I spent about 6 months doing literally nothing, just for the sake of the company. Well things started to pick back up slowly and as soon as they did they gave another employer there 3/4ths of my job. And not that the fact they had someone help me bothered me, but this guy really has no bussiness in the survey end of things. He has continually made mistakes and half the time my *** gets the raping due to his incompetence. But they never seem to see it, so I would always be pissed off about things. Well recently we just picked up 3 huge jobs, which allows us to hire several surveyors and would keep me busy for the next 10-15 years. However getting good workers isn't easy, so I know that they were depending on me being around. Which is why I gave them a 4 MONTH ******* NOTICE, but that wasn't good enough I guess Anyways, over the past year i've come to realize my life needs to go in a different direction. I never went to college, I started working in civil engineering as soon as I got out of highschool. I did very well at my work and made huge strides in being promoted over the past 5 years. I took my surveyors exam about 6 months ago and god knows i spent a ton of time doing home studying for different reasons work related. But it was time for me to do something else, I just haven't been fulfilled doing this kind of work. So my choice was to go to school, and i was accepted into the spartan school of aeronautics to become a professional pilot. So, I felt it was only right to go ahead and tell them now so they can plan on me being gone in August. Oddly I think that the owner's may be a little self centered. Mainly because they acted like me going to school was a boot up their ***, when all i'm trying to do is better my life.......if its not good for them then to hell with you sorta attitude.
