another stupid Air Canada thing is the 2 official languages, that have to be spoken by Canadian Law. I am on a plane that is going to Tokyo then on to some place in China. They do the whole safety lecture in English and then French, on a plane where I am the only non Asian on the plane, out of them maybe 5 payed attention to the stewardess, nobody else had a clue what she was saying.

yeah its kind of silly, most people in FRANCE speak english enough to understand the saftey lecture.

my car friends are mostly chinese, i'm used to being the token white guy. last time was this HUGE dim sum place, its kind of cool, actually i never would have known that you can win or loose at food.... if we'd have been a table of white people we would have lost and not even known

****, you can lose at Dim Sum!? I just figured if I leave with food in my belly and my wallet intact I've won. Maybe I am winning in some sense but have never noticed it? Maybe I've simply been playing a different game known as "Get Full". What an existential thing to ponder during brunch!

..and I have no idea why Canadians love Tim Hortons so much. The food is good for a quick hearty bite, but the coffee thing has me mystified. I used to work at a Starbucks, and people basically disliked our coffee if it wasn't shitty by our standards. I think they just like as little flavour as possible so their cream and sugar doesn't get diluted.

Dim sum is a game of mystery meat.. I remember getting a chicken claw in deep fried batter, grosser than ****, that was the end of my dim sum adventures..

I really like swiss chalet coffee, its some off brand that oddly enough, is served on the airlines... I can't remember the name of it. I am not sure what Tim's coffee is , I never liked the taste, but when I did go there with friends, I would drink one cup and **** 9 litres afterward.. Its spiked with something.

Do they have Swiss chalet south of the 49th?

i ate the chicken foot, thats how i got my honorary chinese citizenship....

you loose at dim sum, when they rush out with the carts, and you end up with a ton of food that gets cold. you win, when you get one thing at a time, and eat it hot.

Haha, my best friend is Chinese (well, half) so I guess he kept me from acting like a dumb gwai lo. Plus we could always cuss out the racist folks in there when "lofan" or "gwai" got muttered. Maybe they just eventually realized we knew what good food and good service was...
