My TV popped yesterday. Stupid toshiba projection TV. The bulb blew, and from what I've been reading, they only get 3 - 5 thousand hours of life, and toshiba warranties their bulbs for 90 DAYS. This is the 4th bulb that went out on the TV, and it's only 4 years old. You can ****** them up on ebay for 200 bucks, but anywhere else is 400.



And then the fridge started rattling so I took it apart at the back and found what I think is the compressor/pump is toasted inside? I mean I know how to work on A/C, but definately not on a fridge, I don't even recognise the parts! Anyone familiar?

 

How old is the fridge? Most compressors will last darn near forever. The relay on my 5-year old Kitchenaid went bad last year. Just over a $100 for a service guy to come out and fix it.



Rattling isn't good. Is it a loose cooling fan or something? Or is it the actual compressor? If it's the compressor and the unit is more than 8 or so years old, I'd be shopping for a new fridge.

when a part on my washer and dryer went I found this website called applianceparts.com or some crap, they had all the diagrams and sold you all the parts you needed, do a google search for appliance parts

 

I got a 52" panasonic plasma the other day things like a home tearter and no bulbs to go bad and pictures great from all angles

 

Yeah, it's amazing the resources that are available online. I had the latch break on my dishwasher (also a damn Kitchenaid) and found the part to fix it online. Pretty easy stuff.

When my 43" Hitachi rear projection went out, I found a website that sold kits to replace the RGB chips. I ended up taking the circuit board out of the TV, taking it to a shop, and having them do it (with my kit that I bought). They were impressed by the little chip set, and wondered where I got it, since those things apparently go out often (less than $30 after parts and labor).





Of course I'm not including the part about me ******* up removing the board from the TV, and yanking one of the high-voltage cables from its housing, leaving the cable end deep in its recess. Luckily the repair guy somehow managed to get the cable end out (maybe 1/8" by 3" deep hole) and soldered it securely back to the cable (otherwise I would have had to buy a whole new RGB projector unit, costs more than the TV was worth).

 

What model Toshiba? I've got a 50HX70 that's been repaired once already, apparently it's common for the picture to get all twisted and need adjustment, but I don't know about the bulb. This one must have more than 3000 hrs by now.
