Where the hell did this one come from, just popped up!
Bermuda's getting hammered, it's the end of the world i tell ya! |
ho-hum yet another hurrican threatens FLA, yet people still INSIST on building on beachfront property. IDIOTS? If the shoe fits.................
|
I drove down to the coast this past weekend, saw some damage from hurricane Dennis. What I wonder is, what happens if you own a piece of land, and that land gets washed out to sea? Is there such a thing as land insurance (dirt insurance?)?
|
no u just own unbuildable land
|
i HAVE A BRIDGE IN bROOKLYN YOU MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN
|
**** it, enough hurricanes run thru here and the Yanks wont have anywhere to migrate every year. Good riddance.
|

And then when something does happen, they punish you for it by increasing your premium. It's like "Ok we're going to charge you insurance - what do you mean you had an accident! This wasn't part of the deal, we're going to have to charge you more money." Mark |
|
bah canada, what od you know abou tinsurance, the gov paysw for everything.
socialists. |
Ophelia, damned near killed him.
|
I do and I don't understanf it, personally they should have to pay whatever premium asked if they live on a barrier island/shore. If they wanna rebuild fine, but don't expect the gov't to rebuild your **** and expect to pay a shitload in insurance.
|
dramon they dont pay for everything
everything is becoming privatized so eventually we will just be the usa's little brother |
better then being our sister with a sex change.
It's supposed to build to a cat 1, then it's possible it will pull a jeane and head back to land. I got a bad feeling about this one, but it is only a cat one.... |

kevin.
no katrina was predicted a 5! It orginally hit just south of here as a 1, then travelled to the gulf and built, it did exactly what it was predicted to do except it pushed a little east of the orginal landfall prediction, they predicted strong 4 or 5 4 days before landfall. |
yea i remember when it was a cat 5 before it hit, but i remember the first brush in it was less powerful. I didnt know they predicted it to be a 5. i now have a different opinion on the situation down there. what the hell were they doing staying there? kevin. |
They had no option, 30% of the people in new orleans live below the poverty level, that's less then 18,000 per year for a family of 4. They had no means to leaving, even if they had a car and the money to put gas in it, where would they go when they left? They went to the closest shelter, most on foot and hoped for the best. It is definetely hard to imagine being that poor, but at the same time if my choice were to leave for a hurricane that "might" hit or eat, i'd prolly pick eat. Katrina did exactly what it was predicted to do with little exception, it was not quite as strong as predicted, but it was very close. |
yea i mean i guess if i could see it in their perspective they figured theyd had a better chance of weathering the storm then trying to run.
understandable, but in a sad way. kevin. |
What I can't believe are the people that are wanting to stay there with dead bodies floating past their house, with no food and no water. I wouldn't want to go live in a shelter either, but I also wouldn't want to die of cholera.
Well that's a tough one, in every disaster you see that when mount saint helens blew there were people that wouldn't leave and died there were people here that wouldn't leave their trailer even though odds are they will be killed. To older people I think that often all they have is their homes, the things they have accumulated over the years and figure if they don't have those things they would rather be dead. I dunno......... |
