I bought my hood for the vent, not that it was "lighter" or "stronger"

My stock hood was light enough IMO.

My curent one is carbon fiber and It cost all of $400.

My insurance even payed for it.

So I see nothing wrong with painting it.

In my opinion it would have looked bad unpainted on my car.

I would never pay the price for a hood from Japan anyway.

Anything over $600 or so for a hood is just way to much imo.

I have a S5 TII, and my dad has a Silver FD, they sit next to each other in the driveway every day. I have drivin both many times and hands down I think my FC is more tough looking, and does my dad. FC's just have a nice bulldog stance. The only reason kids in hondas **** their pants when a FD rolls up next to them is because they saw the fast and the furious. 90% of the people on the road didnt know what a RX-7 was or what it looked like before that movie. If the movie had featured a TII they would be scared shitless of us too. I actually get more people scared to race me when I'm in the FC than the FD. They know now what a FD is and what it can do, but nobody knows the mysteries that lye beneath the hood of the TII, they're just like "thats a RX-7??? but...but...it doesn't look like one." haha then i laugh at them. Had a kid in a VR-4 fly up on my *** on the freeway thinkin i was some integ or somethin at night, then he got there and didnt want to race anymore. Dont get me wrong the FD is badass, but it gets more "nice car" and the FC gets the "oh my god I've never seen that before." looks. Just my .02

I owned 2 fd's before the fast and the furious ever even existed.

I knew lots of people who knew what they were.

There were a few kids in my highschool (class of '94 ) that had FC's

I dont agree with you about what you say that people dont recongize your FC a s a rx-7

Way more people are familiar with the FC than the FD.

FC's are everywhere.

Well take into account that I live way the hell up in Minnesota. There are hardly any RX-7's out here to begin with. Maybe its just my town, but I every kid who sees my car from the side or the front asks me what it is, the only people who know what it is are the actual car enthusiests around here, otherwise they have no idea. If I drive down the street in the FD though I get people screaming "nice RX-7!" from the sidewalks.

When I was in high school I remember we got asked what our dream car was. Everyone said lamborghinis and ferraris, porche ect. ect. They got to me and I said a 3rd Gen mazda RX-7. Did I ever get the blank stare of the century. All I got was "a mazda huh? well, ok." Couple people even laughed at me, and before I knew it I had a lot of people making fun of me for wanting a mazda for my dream car. I had to pull up a FD on the computer in the class to show everyone what it was, then all of the sudden they were cool with it. Now if I go back to that high school every kid in there in every grade knows exactly what your talking about when you say RX-7, unfortuntely the FC isnt what pops into their head. But like I said, I'm in Minnesota, so RX-7's are almost non-existent here. That movie is the only taste they've gotten of the 7.

i dont think any one body kit is the best i like a mix. Feed V2 bumber, RE9 Hood, RE9 rear diffuser, JSP Blade wing, And the side skirts off the silver car from rotary extreme under the feed bumber link. Yea that woudl be sweet as hell.
That's my car yo! Those side skirts are WingsWest.

When the FD came out I almost thought that it was not true to the legacy of RX-7 shape: clean chisel shaped nose and low, flat stance. The FD has a very curvy, bulging shape like a woman while the FC and SA/FB have more of a porsche 924/928/944 sharp front with curved back look; a shark or other ocean going predator comes to mind.

I have never liked the look of the FD even though it is beautiful. The FC was my dream car growing up and seeing one with that RE front is spectacular. I dream of modding my front with a homebuilt set of RE copies . . .

As for FD3Boost's challenge . . . this might be heresy here (it would be at RX7club) but a base mdl. FC properly done with an supercharged LS-1 would be formidable to say the least . . . ie. 11 to 10 second range (it has been done a few times - check out torquecentral.com).

You might be right about that being the local situation for you.

I live just outside Washington DC and every brotha in P.G. county has a FC. That and old Datsun 280 Z's are loved by the brotha's around here. LOL

There are alot of FD's in Maryland and Virginia aswell.

But definitely more FC's.

And then your not using a rotary engine so whats the point.

I mean in the same respect I could say give me a 3 rotor Banzi from Pettit and then your supercharged LS1 isnt doing ****.

I'll be on a track soon to back up what I have been telling you all along. I am going to throw down an 11 second run on stock twins.

Ask AVAN he got a ride in my car the other day.
